Yeah Luke is a pretty unoriginal name. But I am almost positive George picked that name for people to be able to relate to the character better.

Sith Apprentice: kdmillz
Sith Allies: Ripperz, Jeanie, Emo-Boy, Angelspeak, icegoat, Hanzo Hattori

Counting down to Kdmillz' Birthday Beatdown.: Just as I thought. I whooped his ass.

Swift actually has a really good point.

I mean look at the casting. Mark Hamill (Sp) has to be one of the most ordinary looking people in the movie. He's just your average Joe, with an average name (Luke) who finds out that he's a bad **** Jedi, and dominates everyone. It gives him an automatic underdog appeal to the viewers that they may not immediatly recognize but certainly will feel.

Now on a coolness factor though. Definatly like an F.

Well yeah but look at the Lord of the Rings.

The "underdog" was named Frodo Baggins. Not a normal name by any means.

The only normal names in Lord of the Rings are Tom Bombadil and Samwise (Sam) Gamgee. Samwise isn't a normal name either unless you shorten it to Sam.

I may end up weighing 500lbs but I'll still find a way to pull it off sexily at the nudist colony. ~ysabel

You can't make accusations like that without evidence. I ashume that you have some?

Leia isn't exactly a far-out name either.

I was going to say the exact same thing. It's easier to relate to the hero when he has a normal name.
