The Matrix

What is the Matrix?

I'm curious to know how other viewers interpret this film. The floor for discussion is open. Time is yours...

It's simple...

The matrix is a dream world engineered to emulate the real world. All inhabitants are plugged in to the system and therefore are able to interact within the simulation. Since it's an artificially created world that exists in real time, it can be modified on the fly and tweaked in an instant.

Maybe a better question than "What is the Matrix" would be, "Have you ever had a dream you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you tell the difference between the dream world and the real world?"

Seriously, would it be possible to know for sure we aren't in a Matrix world currently? All obvious reasons point to it just being a movie, but would there truly be a way to prove we are not in a Matrix type world?

It sounds like you quoted the movie.

The way that I interpreted the matrix is that the world that we view as the real world is just a fake reality where everything is computer generated. The actual real world was destroyed.

When you go into the matrix you have to power to manipulate things however you want them, and if you go to the space before entering the matrix then you can have someone load up some weapons for you before you take your trip, just by simply loading up a program you can learn to fly a helicopter.

It's sort of a complicated subject to explain because it's a complicated matter.

"Ohh! OOOhhh!!!-Oh and again! I made it. I know it. I can't see it but I know I made it. Oh my God I made it. Alright, don't give up. This is for everything. This is when I don't have to do it. This one right here is when I don't have to do it, which leaves nothing else but the one. No I don't think so. Not there. God I wish I could turn the volume-OH **** Aahhh son of a **** I talk too much. ****." - 00vega -

I don't think you understand it very well Dave. You can't go into the Matrix at will unless you are living in the real world. Everybody else doesn't even know they are living in a fake world.

You can also only bring things with you that are already coded into the matrix. You can't just "manipulate things however you want them" as you say. Only 1 or 2 people mentioned in the movie could do that.

And no I didn't quote the movie... If I wanted to quote I would have. I've seen the movie at least 25 times if not more. I have probably watched it more than any other movie.

What the matrix is... isn't really up for "interpretation". Hybrix got it spot on. Theres not really anything ambigous about it, the film explains it fine even if it may take 2 watches to totally get it.

Why does this also describe modern day America?
