As people have already said, it's about confidence. If you think so little of yourself than others are going to see that.

I also agree with Vilky, don't feel pressured into getting a girlfriend. You meet the right person and you go from there. There is no "set time" to start up a relationship - it's all down to meeting the right person and feeling ready.
