It highly depends on a multitude of different things but I would say that yes, exes can be friends after a break up.

But it severely depends on how the relationship went, how they broke up, and how good a note they left on.

I'm personally friends with most of my exes. Some I don't really see too much but I'm still on good terms with them. It varies with different people and how the relationship went.

It depends on how much you trust each other (you and your current partner) because jealousy would be a factor.

Depending on the reasons you ended your relationship with your ex would effect the chance of friendship. Personally, if someone became my ex I would find it awkward to be their friend. I wouldn't want to hear about their next relationship.

I think it all depends on how they where EX'ed.. Most the chicks that left me where a **** about it and I'd want nothing to do wit'um.. Sometimes you jus can't let a relationship go though, so even if you can't quite get what you want out of a friendship it's better than nothing.
