It feels way worse to think you are being flirted with and you act and realize they were just being nice. When you are flirting and get no response, you can just stop and move on.
Where if a girl is consistently "nice" to you for weeks and you take it as flirting and make an idiot out of yourself you feel like crap. That has happened numerous times to me. Enough to the point that now I try not to read too much into flirting unless the girl is very aggressive...

The years later one dawned on me pretty recently.
So a friend from high school (lets call her Girl A) transferred to my college in my sophomore year.
Nice girl really talkative and friendly. Her roommate (who was actively seeking a boyfriend) stopped by the room one day because Girl A dragged her to my room.
We talked a bit but at the moment I was going through my "Halo 1 Obsession" phase playing it all the time on the LAN and getting all of my friends hooked.
Well she came by the room sometimes started asking me questions about the game and then asked if she could play one day.
She then regularly would come and play halo with me along with all the guys in our hall wing.
After about a month of her playing she stopped coming by and started seeing someone across from my hall.
And it dawned on me this year (yes this year about...4 years later) why she was doing that...
So...how dense is that. How often does a girl play video games...
It's ok I guess, since she was a 5/10 she was not ugly or fat just not really attractive.
