I'd be at least a little irritated if I went out and worked to support us both while she sat around.

It might not work for you, but it works for them. It stated in the article they are both happier, and their marriage is healthier because of it. There is more to life then money and I highly doubt she sits around all day, she maintains the home completely now, duties that her and her husband shared prior to this arrangement, so he actually has less responsibilities now with her staying home.

I agree. That is why I am careful to let him know that I appreciate it, don't overspend, and put love and effort into cooking him good meals I keep busy, I do my chores, but I take some time for myself when possible.

I guess that's just how some people choose to live their lives. I would have to think that the stay at home wife would be incredibly bored though; there are only so many chores to do before you start cleaning things you cleaned 15 minutes ago...

It would be best to have some extra cash for savings and things like that, and I know that if i were in that position I would want a job to gain a bit of my own independance, but some people want to live the life of luxury. If the way they are living now is satisfactory to them then what does it matter? If they have no ambition to make unnecessary improvements, then that's up to them.

If there's no kids I don't see why the wife should stay at home. It wouldn't be hard to keep a home for two clean and the money could go a long way.
