Artest traded to the Rockets
Ron Artest didn't opt out, then doubted his decision, asked for a trade, then backed off. It looks like none of that is Sacramento's problem anymore.
NBA front-office sources confirmed to ESPN.com that Artest will be dealt to the Rockets in exchange for Houston's first-round draft pick in 2009, ex-King Bobby Jackson (who arrives with a $6.1 million expiring contract) and the draft rights to Donte Greene.
The Kings will also receive more than $1 million in cash, according to The
Houston Chronicle, but the deal can't be announced before Aug. 14 because Greene is not eligible to be traded before then.
The trade -- which will reunite Artest with Rick Adelman, one of his favorite coaches -- was first reported by the Chronicle.
Rest of this story: ESPN - Rockets agree to send pick, Greene, Jackson to Kings for Artest - NBA
I think this is a great trade for Houston. If Yao/McGrady stay healthy along with Scola and the newly added Artest this team could be very good.

Not sure I'd want to trade for him if I were the Rockets. He might have another outburst and have to sit out for another half a season.

Seems like an awful lot to give up to get someone who's a power keg ready to blow. I think Artest is underrated by most but I dont know if he's worth the gamble.

Artest is a good player, yes he has a temper, but he's one of the best defenders in this league. He can also give you 20ppg. He won't average that much with them because they already have T-Mac and Yao that will do much of the scoring. But he's a great addition to the team and he might help them finally reach the second round, which they weren't able to do during the last few seasons.

What I mean by that is that since McGrady as joined the Rockets they haven't reached further then the first round. Now adding a player like Ron Artest makes them Championship contenders in my opinion. But you have to pass the first round to make it closer to the championship and Artest is going to help this team get further then the first round.
