Sources: Jackson to end holdout, return to Rams

FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Sources: Jackson to end holdout, return to Rams

This is defenitely good news for the Rams, they need Jackson on the playing field if they want any kind of success in 08/09.

Millz this should make you happy.

"How to hit home runs: I swing as hard as I can, and I try to swing right through the ball...The harder you grip the bat, the more you can swing it through the ball, and the farther the ball will go. I swing big, with everything I've got. I hit big or I miss big. I like to live as big as I can." Babe Ruth

Oh thank God haha. This Rams team has NO chance of winning without him in there and ready to go.

Hopefully hes in shape and gets some reps in. I wouldnt mind them thanking him for becoming back and getting a new deal done because i want him locked up long term.

Well it's about time. I wonder if he'll be ready for this weeks preseason game or not. I heard he has been working out and is in shape so we'll see I guess.

I'm pretty excited to see him back and running. He makes us SO much better.

No 3-13 this year, maybe a chance at the wild card spot if all goes well.

Yeah I agree...I think this team will surprise some people if they can stay healthy. Looks like they've agreed on a new deal too.

The Rams have agreed in principle on a new contract with Steven Jackson.

Who said the Rams' front office was incompetent? "In principle, it's agreed to," Jackson said of his deal. He added that it'll be "pretty much done" after a few details are taken care of. We're guessing, but a deal in the six-year, $48-50 million range with $18-20 million guaranteed seems right.

I was expecting Michael Jackson had abducted the Rams family's child in his ranch or something. I should really look at that forum name column.

Sounds like a very good asset. Congrats Rams fans!

Rams signed RB Steven Jackson to a five-year contract worth a maximum of $49.3 million, including $21 million in guarantees.

However, the last two years of the deal void if he hits certain performance levels, essentially making it a three-year, $29.3 million commitment. Jackson can be eligible for unrestricted free agency at age 28. Having topped 254 carries in a season just once so far, he's a good bet to be highly productive until then. Coach Scott Linehan says Jackson will be in pads for Saturday's exhibition game, but won't play. He'll probably warm up in pre-game.
