I used to collect pogs

I was an expert until I sold them at a yard sale for a dollar.

Pokemon cards, pogs, monsters in my pocket and power rangers were my biggest fads.

Rather sad when I think about it.

I still have my pogs in a box somewhere. Their value is going to shoot up in 5 years time though and I'll be rich, rich I tells ya!

When I was in school we did this thing for a couple of months where we collected as many ring pulls from cans as possible. We'd ask all our family members to save them etc. After a couple of months we'd bring them in and see who had the biggest variety of colours.
Back in the day you used to get all sorts of colours on soft drinks. I don't see that anymore though.

Malificus is wrong about Pokemon.

Definition of fad:

A fashion that is taken up with great enthusiasm for a brief period of time; a craze.

Pokemon still sells well, but it's no longer the psychotic craze it was about ten years ago. My school revolved around Pokemon for about four months when I was in second grade, then it fell into the background. People still played the games and it was still talked about, but no longer was everyone talking about it at all times, which is the requisite for something to be a craze.

I take it well that Pokemon is by no means dead. It's just nowhere near a fad level.

Fads:

-Escape Velocity (mostly older kids)
-Magic: The Gathering
-YuGiOh!
-Toonami
-My Little Pony (girls)
-American Girl dolls (girls)

Modern day fads would be things like Heroes and World of Warcraft.
