I'm not sure about it being formal, but you do put yourself out there when you ask someone to forgive you. A risk you have to take because not everyone is willing to say yes, I forgive you. Or maybe even if they do say that, they don't mean it. ooh, haha.

Yeah but if someone says yes....you can immediately tell from their facial reaction and their body language whether or not they really mean it.

There was a time when I said yes and meant it. But then the other person kept bugging me, to ask if it's really true. In the end, I wanted to take it back. Not because I haven't forgiven the person but because he was starting to annoy me once more.

I usually forgive pretty easily. It's on rare occurrences that I hold grudges. The person has to be a really big piece of **** for me to not accept their apology. Usually I just wash my hands of those people. Life is too short to bother yourself with such trash.

Yeah. If someone backstabs a friend of mine, forget it. I want nothing to do with you. Those people are scum.
