If you ever find yourself driving a Mack and a deer runs out in front of you...
This driver survived, and the deer survived, but things could have ended up much worse. Also, instead of just having to replace a bumper and a headlight and some other small ****, this truck has suffered over $50,000 in damage. That's starting to near half the cost of the truck! And that's just the damage that has been found so far. We also think it may have bent the frame. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, this is how the truck was rolled in. Nothing has been done to it yet. |

Obviously well don't drive that fast then and you could just hit the breaks, I doubt there would be TONS of drivers behind you in the woods or something, Honking their horn at you to move along

Wow he really messed that thing up. I've driven Macks before and I would never want to risk swerving one. I agree. It's better to bust the deer head on than risk killing yourself by swerving. The deer would just about vaporize if hit by one of those anyway. Just spray some wiper fluid and after about a minute of wipers on full blast you'll be good to go.

I'd probably hit the brakes. I would never swerve. I never let up for animals like squirrels and possums. Why would you wait in the dark and jump out, of all times, in front of me when I'm heading towards you? Silly squirrels.
I bet that truck could've taken the deer without slowing down and it would've just left with a bad bumper and blood stains. Let animal control take care of the deer. |

Squirrels that see me coming from 20+ yards away and decide to span the road right as I come near.
It's only squirrels that do that too. Rabbits actually run away from you. Dogs stay on the grass/sidewalk. Humans wait. Birds fly away....It's a reflex to automatically apply the brakes when something crosses your path, but I won't cause any potential harm to myself or the vehicle I'm in just to avoid an animal (rodent-sized). |

I think that it might have been so beaten up because the Deer stopped the truck and with taht kind of weight that truck probably just crunched, probably slammed on teh brakes too hard before hitting and somehow got the tire just right to really mess it up.
