If you saw into the future
If you had the ability to see glimpses of the future, would you tell anybody?
Let me set it up so it makes more sense. If you were able to see into somebody's future (whoever you focused on) and saw a glimpse of their future, would you tell them about it? Add on: would you tell them if they DID want to know? Would you tell them if they DIDN'T want to know?
If you did decide to tell them, and they decided to change it due to not liking the future, it would create a new future for them that could either be worst or better. Now, with that in play, would you tell anybody their future now? Did that make sense?
If you want to get specific, would you be willing to tell family more than friends? Willing to tell e-friends rather than family? Willing to tell public figures rather than everybody else? Aw, the possibilities!
I know, I made this thread much more complicated than it should have been. I'm sorry.

I would.. but just to screw with someone. I would only tell them enough to make them think WTF, then when it actually happens they wouldn't expect it but afterwords would realize, "Holy **** he was right".
That way it wouldn't really change the future other than opening the mind of a skeptical type person.

RipperZ, in 3 days you will lose a lot of money on a bad bet.
*Waits 3 days for RipperZ to come back shocked.*
I'd probably only tell bad things so they could have a chance to change their future. After all, by knowing the future the future will automatically be different than how it was when you first saw it. If you told somebody good things about their future there is a chance they'd screw it up. Why mess with a done deal?

If you can see the future you will be seeing something that is going to happen.
By seeing the future and doing all you can to prevent the scenario happening you will be altering the events of the future and the initial scenario would be wrong so you would of never seen the future in the first place, as it would not happen in the way you saw it.
In short; By changing the future you change the past, in particular the moment you saw the future no longer is/was the future. It shows that the inevitable is inevitable, or that the future you saw was not the future at all.
On that basis I would not tell anyone as I would not want to know myself. I enjoy the freedom of choices, to know that something will happen(either good or bad) and that anything and everything I try and do to change it will be in vain. The lack of control of our own destiny freaks me out a little.

I'd choose to watch my grandmothers future by about a day and a half. Just so I could see tomorrows lottery numbers. I'd make a fortune in no time. But would I tell her about that? No. I'd just tell her that I was lucky.

That's why I tried not to overdo this topic. I knew there would be holes and people would straighten me out on some of them.
I'm just curious to see if the stipulations given, would you tell anybody?

The only hole is the possibility of changing it.
If it were my future or someone elses I would not want to know or let anyone else know. I don't think my mind could take it, that is a lot of knowledge and a huge concept to take in. If I saw the future just the thought of it would probably drive me insane. Time alone is a frightening concept beyond the greatest physicist understanding, for me to strugle with it......no chance

But this all depends on one thing - is time linear? Does it continue on in a single path, or are there multiple dimensions where time branches off, where instead of deciding to post in this thread, you did something else?
If multiple timelines do exist, then changing the future will not create a paradox - there will be a timeline where you do try to change the future, and another where you don't. But this brings up another question - which timeline will we be looking into?

I can not see how it could be anything other than a continuous singular path. We have the past, present and future all connected or unravelling together.
The reason why I can not believe in multiple dimensions is if I decided to not post in this thread could it really be enough to create a parallel. Every action and outcomes to ever take place would cause can infinite dimensions that would be duplicating at an unprecedented rate. I not only find this thought difficult but do not rate our significance(or any other worldly body to have ever existed) high enough to influence dimensions.
