I'm sure it hurts military, or at least veterans.. who risked their lives for the flag that.. people are burning. I remeber watching a video of Woodstock '99. Rage against The Machine burnt an American flag... WHY!? either they did it for attention or they really hate America. America is the land of oppurtunity.. just because you guys had a dumbass in office for the past 8 years.. I doubt that's a legit reason to disrespect your own country burning the flag.. so again, yes, it should be outlawed.

I say make it punishable.

As said before its a disturbance of peace. As far as Im concerned its a threat, when we see terrorists burning our flag in front of a hostage we are outraged. But when some college students rally together and burn it its an act of adolescant rebellion. I dont buy that at all.

If the Canadian immigration laws would allow 150 million Americans to flood across the border would you burn the Canadian flag in protest or would you just leave?

Nobody in their right mind risks their lives or has risked their life for a flag.

It is no secret that Rage against the Machine use their music as an instrument of political protest against what they see as the US regime, by burning the flag they are making a statement against those who govern them, so they did it for the attention because they hate the US governance. Some people go on rallies, some write poems, some write music and some burn flags. We use the tools we have available to make ourselves heard.

You're supposed to burn the flag when it touches the ground, out of respect for the flag.
Obviously, this is different than burning a flag in protest.

Burning a flag should not be legal as a means of protest. There are plenty of other ways to protest that are effective. Burning a flag just sends the message that you're a disrespectful punk.

Hide cowards!

they did it for attention, exactly what I thought.. as if making a song about politics is not enough they have to burn their own countries flag!? And they're doing that in front of kids to, so the kids are gonna think "hey I wanna be cool like RATM so i'll burn the flag thats in front of my house"

thats not disrespect.. thats stupidity.. stupidty because they seeked attention. You have the right to protest, but burning a flag is disrespectful.

T.O doesnt have a problem with that? And if they did I wouldn't burn no flag nor protest, I would just think about my own financial stability rather than wasting my time burning flags and being a bum. I like my country, I'm lucky to be living in North America rather than Africa or South America where every 2nd person dies from AIDS.

Some may think that, but I doubt they would burn the flag. And RATM uses their music and stuff as a form of political protest. They aren't doing it just for the hell of it. They have a point.

And not everyone that burns a flag does it because of "working in an office for 8 years"

Some people have serious concerns, hates, and scorns with the government.

My opinion, but.. I think burning a flag will offend more people than just the government. If they have a problem with the government can't they protest in another way?

They could, but it might not work or get news coverage. Sometimes the more news coverage you get the more attention you get, and hopefully the government will actually listen then. I'm not sure on this at all, this is entirely speculation, but the government probably doesn't listen to everyone ****, so they may need to do something a bit more.

Flag burning should definitely be illegal, that's basically saying how much you hate your country by burning it's world wide recognized symbol.

It's extremely disrespectful to your country. If you hate america enough to want to burn a flag then you should move.

it's disrespectful to the military more than anybody else, so many people have given their lives to defend that flag, and you want to BURN it, don't destroy the thing that people have died for?

I have had this conversation with a lot of my military friends and this always came up that it was very disrespectful to those who have died to defend the flag.

So it should definitely be illegal, end of story.

"Ohh! OOOhhh!!!-Oh and again! I made it. I know it. I can't see it but I know I made it. Oh my God I made it. Alright, don't give up. This is for everything. This is when I don't have to do it. This one right here is when I don't have to do it, which leaves nothing else but the one. No I don't think so. Not there. God I wish I could turn the volume-OH **** Aahhh son of a **** I talk too much. ****." - 00vega -
