Sports and Non-Sports
What do you think are sports and what are not sports (even though they are considered)? I think the only sports are baseball, football, and basketball. Everything else is just a hobby or activity. |

I think a sport can be an activity that can be played competitively. I'd like to include anything involving a movable ball of some sort with that.

Activities like Kickball and ones that you and your friends make up can be considered sports but not nationally known, it can be yalls own^^ Not every sport is known to the majority. Those three are the all over the world known, but I tell ya, sometimes you can go somewhere and find a town sport that is way more fun than those sometimes:D

Hockey isn't a sport because it isn't played with a ball. When have you ever heard of a puck besides the thing in the urinals to prevent the smell?
Tennis is ping-pong (activity) played standing on the table. Wrestling is two guys hugging and beating the **** out of each other. |

So given your parameters Hockey is a hobby or an activity. That has to be one of the dumbest analogies I've ever heard. Same goes for Tennis. A sport should be defined as an activity whereby two or more individuals compete against each other to which the victor(s) of the contest is determined predominantly by athletic prowess and skill. Other examples would be:
*Racketball *Squash *Jai-Alai *Cricket *Rugby *Lacrosse *Volley Ball *Soccer Hoosier. |

Racketball: Ping-pong played in a white box and a short paddle.
Squash: Ping-pong played in a white box with a long paddle. Jai-Alai: Guys throwing stuff at each other really fast. Cricket: Baseball with a ****ed up stick and guys that can't throw across the plate. Rugby: Football, but without pads and english people. Lacrosse: **** college activity. Vollyball: Ping-pong played standing on a board of sand and using your hands instead of paddles. Soccer: Can't be a sport of if the ball has spots on it. These I make my own rules. These are mine, well, actually, some of these are what George Carlin said, but who's counting anyways? |

Yo, come on man. Now you're stating to hurt my feelings. You can't even make fun of Carlin if you don't know him.

My Grandmother had a saying for discussions like this.
"Never try to teach a pig to sing. It only wastes your time and irritates the pig." I should have taken her advice. Hoosier. |
