The POPE has SPOKEN!!!

/thread

Does it annoy you when you people use this after they make a point?

For me it just says "No. You're wrong. I'm right. End of discussion." which seems pretty pig headed at the end of it all! Especially seeing it in mature discussion, where there could be a lot of people with conflicting views to the poster, but they think they're so undeniably right they can safely say "/thread".

it's probably the phrase that annoys me the most on the internet.

I have to admit it annoys me slightly too, I've never used it before.... but it does kinda annoy me. I had never ever seen it until I came to GF

The arrogance of it tends to make me giggle more than anything...and then I ignore it. I don't really get irritated by it. I think some people here do it to be humorous rather than arrogant.

I've used it a few times after a really long rant. Usually it's simply because I really want the thread to be over.

Generally I see it as an arrogant approach, especially when somebody says it after just a few words.

Oh great, you post this after I used it?

Well, technically I haven't used /thread. I did use the / instead of saying "end of" -- I haven't seen this done until I joined GF.

What's funny is when people use it and then the thread reaches 5 more pages of replies.

That generally happens. After all, people don't usually obey the /thread lol.

Why should we obey the /thread?!

It's so arrogant that people must continue! You're not going to tell me what to do!

I've done it but only as a humorous way of saying, "I've destroyed this thread".

I've never been serious when using it.

Never used it before. Mostly because I don't think to put it in.
