When the next gen systems were announced i immediately eliminated the 360 as it was just a high-defintion xbox with major issues on specs and not being backwards compatible; not that i bought the first xbox cause it too was bad.
that put me to the PS3 and Wii; both had great specs and appeared flawless. Then when Sony announced the unnecessary huge price tags i began rethinking it. Now with the release of the PS3 and reading how its not truly backwards compatible and has other issues i have eliminated that. I'm getting the Wii as it redefines backwards compatible by making you able to purchase NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, and NEC TurboGraphix games through there virtual console. also you won't need a credit card because they are using a point system of $5 = 500 points towards a game where you can go to a store, purchase a card with points and download the games. plus it'll play the entire GC library. The Wii is definately the best purchase based on price, specs, and overall package. |

I will be getting all three consoles eventually. However, I will be getting them in a certain order.
1st: Wii -- When I heard the news about it, and saw the (main) method of playing games, it got me interested. The more I learnt and saw about it, the more interested I got, until I reached the point where I said "I will be getting this before next year". I like the controller, I like the virtual console, and I like the fact that this might open up new ways of gaming (might as developers will have to broaden their horizons to how the remote can be used). 2nd: Xbox 360 -- Lets see... well, there's only one thing I can say why this is going in here - there are games I like the look of on the console which I would like to play. 3rd: Playstation 3 -- The first thing that put me off the PS3 is the price. Sure, gaming is an expensive hobby, but I'd rather not have to pay around £500 - £600 for a games console. The next thing that put me off is that there are not a lot of games that I'm interested in (probably around 2-3), and I know that at least one of those games is a multi-platform game. As such, I'd rather wait until there are some more PS3 exclusive games that I like the look of before buying a PS3. |

PS3- Terrible console with mediocre games. Blu-ray? Who the hell owns blu-ray discs? And the price...lmao. Most expensive brick i've ever seen. Graphics? Sure. But youre basically buying a computer with the price of it, so the graphics better be damn good. Overall...a worthless console which i'd only even consider if the price dropped 200-250$ and if they released some killer games that were only for ps3...which i really cant see...Resistance is wack...Killzone is replaceable...Metal Gear Solid always sucked.
Wii- ok. it's innovative. And the fact you can play all those older games is good. It has a decent line up of games coming out. But I just don't know about prolonged gaming with your arm constantly extended and moving. I really think the Wii is for much more casual gamers. But if youre really into sitting down and playing for 5 hour blocks like i do a lot...no way 360- obvious choice. Best games, best online setup and services, best controller, best support, damn good (and damn near ps3's) graphics, most customizable, and please...microsoft > sony |

yeah, im pretty much agreeing with everyone here. i was surprised though that people are wanting to buy wii, because nintendo in my opinion hasn't been doing well, i think the gamecube is horrible besides a few good games on there. how do you guys/girls like the wii controller? i think its awesome but at the same time gay, but its like GameInformer said, a gaming revolution hasn't been out for awile, just upgrades in graphics etc. this is acutally something new.

Look at the DS and how it's dual screens and touch screen technology have garned it massive success. Nintendo doesn't focus on having the best graphics, that's not what games should be about. People who base their judgments of games based on graphics are the morons here. The Wii brings a lot of potential with it's design. Oh and to everyone whining about the Wii's control, there's also the classic controller you can buy. Do some research, okay? |

just like already said the PS3 and 360 are just minor upgrades for more money. nintendo is revolutionizing; which should be the name; gaming by making it interactive. the Wii is truly the next-generation of gaming and the true gamers will realize in time.

360 and ps3 but more the 360, are not just minor upgrades for more money. lets see what has drastically improved:
processing power: yes this is VERY important because it lets game devs take their games to a level far beyond what theyre at now. It allows for MUCH deeper, better looking, and more interactive games. Which, in turn, can be harnessed to create extremely fun and addictive games. online: xbox live is a revolutionary service and the 360 bumped it way up to the next level. with the dashboard and the marketplace and the events and the support, more and more gamers are moving to online. It's just the way to go. Connect more people = more fun. ps3 doesnt have a unified online service, and i dont even think Wii doesnt have online period. lame hd support and the push to move all games to hd: a key step. Within a few years HDTV will be standard, all cable companies will be getting rid of analog stations, and digital cable boxes will be subsidized by the government to those who cant afford the upgrade becaue its a safety issue when people cant get TV; TV is probably the most used source for news, info and alerts...im not sure on these to be fact but you can bet money im right media integration: the 360 is fully integrated with your computer running windows OS and apps. Watch movies, store pics, songs, all that stuff. I think you can use ipods too. I assume ps3 has similar stuff but i dunno. Anyway its comin to the point where the videogame console can basically be used as a computer. I'd imagine the next wave of consoles will have phone access and internet browsing capabilities...once again its this idea of integration. Wii isnt doing this stuff i dont think. graphics: icing on the cake basically the only thing revolutionary about Wii is the motion sensing controller. And lets face it, any of these companies could've done motion sensors if they wanted to. But it really wasnt worth it. PS3 slipped some half assed motion sensors in their controllers but i doubt that will have any impact... |
