20: Lemmings (Amiga) - a computer game developed by DMA (now Rockstar) and published by Psygnosis in 1991. A classic and still so much fun, many hours of my life have been used on this game.
19: Super Mario.Bros (nes) - released by Nintendo in late 1985. My first Mario game. Just overall great and fun and at the time i played it i thought would never be surpassed. 18: Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Master system) - It was Christmas day 1990 i ran downstairs and started peeling off the wrapping paper on the first box i grabbed. My eyes lit up. I finally had a master system something i'd wanted for ages (well it was the much better looking master system 2) I dont think i put my controller down for weeks, not because of the games my parents had bought with it but because of the built in game. If i still had my master system im sure this game would be higher up on this list. Never have i found something with rock paper scissors so fun. Side note: Alex was Segas mascot before sonic came along. 17: Risky Woods (Amiga/Gen/Megadrive) - A lot of people compare this game to Amiga classic Rastan. Some say it's better, some disagree, but they all agree that this is a good game. Is it? If you are an action game lover + you played a lot of games on Amiga then you will probably like Risky Woods. Otherwise, this game might bore you soon. This typical side scrolling game offers a lot of action. Your weapon in the beginning are throwing knifes but you can collect coins and buy better weapons later. Not much to say about this game, just kill anything you see, jump a lot and try to stay alive. 16: Micro Machines '96 Turbo Tournament (Gen/Mega) - Only released for the Sega Megadrive/Sega Genesis this was an updated version of Micro Machines 2 that featured new tracks combined with some updated tracks from Micro Machines 2. It also included a track construction kit previously included with the PC version of Micro Machines 2. What was unique was a wildly unknown thing called the 'j-cart' the cartridge itself had two extra controller ports built into it which can lead to many hours of four player fun. 15: Mortal Kombat 1,2,3, - I found these fighting games to provide a great fun experience. The Characters and story were unique and these games still remain my favorite old school fighters. 14: Bubsy (Gen/Mega) - 'Don't just watch cartoons, play 'em, dude' Bubsy is the Bobcat with an attitude and over forty awesome animations. He runs, he jumps, he glides, he splats, he plops, and he jumps all over those yarn-stealing Woolies. I had many hours of fun as im sure anyone who played it will have too. 13: Final Fantasy VII (psone/Pc) - Often thought of as the best (although not in my eyes) i bought this game when it first came out and it looked great, i hate how people moan about it been blocky and such but on its release date it was rather good. The story was slightly above average for those days as were the various systems used during the game. 12: Final Fantasy VIII (psone/Pc) - The other final fantasy often thought of as the best many people (not in my eyes either) the second FF for the Psone boasted improved visuals, better sound and more realistic looks. The only reason that i have it above VII though is not because of those improvements but the story, i found it to be a slight improvement over that of VII. 11: Desert Strike (Gen/Mega) - If you have not heard of this series or never played any of the games your a sad sad little man/woman. Desert Strike is a very simple and fun helicopter game. This is a true relief, as I remember most of the old chopper games made me dizzy or just confused. This one, on the other hand, takes a different approach and places entertainment ahead of realism. You are a chopper pilot and have to carry out various missions in the Gulf. They vary from seek-and-destroy to rescue and delivery operations. The controls are as simple as they come: arrow keys for moving around, and three keys for shooting your weapons. You can also buy new (and better) co-pilots as the game progresses. This is a very solid piece of software that I remember playing for countless sleepless nights. You should have been doing the same. 10: Ecco the Dolphin (Gen/Mega) - This is one game that i always give a thumbs upto about. Mainly due not to the story type, the controls ect but because of the great lead character you play a 'bottlenose Dolphin' When it was released it was an instant hit because of its unique lead. 09: Paperboy (Atari) - This was just one of those games i couldnt put down, it was also one of the first games that made me want to smash a controller. Its just plain fun, not much else to it really. 08: Chase H.Q. (master system) - This was one of the best looking car games on the master system. I just enjoyed it thoroughly. 07: Super Mario Bro's 3 (nes) - In my eyes the best Super mario bro's game, i enjoyed every new addition they have made to it to make it different from the original, from walking round maps to fighting a variety of bosses. 06: Half life (Pc) - Well if you have just read that title and though whys that in here you need to a) go play it again b) shoot yourself in the head. Easily the best FPS of its time it had great visuals a good story and a very god game engine. Everything about it at the time was just good or above. 05: Final Fantasy IX (Psone) - Personally my favorite final fantasy, often disliked by many for very stupid reasons. One of these reasons is the characters don't look realistic! That is one of the reasons i rank it top. It is more fantasy than 7 and 8 put together, they are more like futuristic sci/fi games, where as every thing in 9 seems to center around fantasy. I love the visuals, the characters and the story. 04: Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (Psone) - I loved everything about this game from the beautiful intro to Raziels voice. One of the most atmospheric platformers i have ever played. If you like dark broody storylines and haven't played this you need to buy it. 03: GODS (Gen/Mega) - I bought this game when it was first released and at the time it was one of the hardest games ever released. Even critics agreed it made NIGHTS look easy. Some puzzles were mind boggling and im sure the guys who thought some of them up were evil. Well that sounds like a bad thing but at that time its wasn't people liked a challenge and thats what this game was. 02: StarCraft/SC:Brood War (Pc) - Back when this game came out everyone was still raving about C&C. No one expected a RTS game to come and surpass the game that started them on the RTS road (or surpass even earlier games), but then came starcraft. It was breath taking at the time and is still nice to look at even now. The interface, races, units and sound were all about par more so with the added brood war. Although after the next C&C came out many drifted back to those games (not a bad thing as those were good too) many still hold Starcraft in high regard. .................................................. .................................................. . 01: ***LEGEND OF ZELDA: A LINK TO THE PAST*** A Link to the Past used a top-down perspective similar to the original The Legend of Zelda, instead of the side scrolling format of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. A Link to the Past expanded on the originals mechanics, introducing game play features that have become hallmarks of the Zelda series, such as multi-level dungeons, the Master Sword, the hook shot, and parallel worlds. The musical score was at the time one of the best in a game. It was well-received and is often considered one of the best installments of the series. It sold over four million copies and many critics and fans including myself consider it one of the greatest video games ever made. |

Here's the top ten games I absolutely loved throughout my playing games.
1. Fable: The lost Chapters (XBOX): Because the original isn't always the best. I loved fighting the dragon at the end, but I couldn't do it with spell. 2. 1942 (NES): The reason I loved this game was it was simple and straightfoward. shoot down enemy fighters without getting shot down yourself. 3. Pokemon yellow (Game Boy) because I had a game boy color by the time I had this game I could very well see that this game is by far the best pokemon oldy. besides there isn't any other game where you can get all three beginning pokemon without trading (i.e. Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle) 4. Final Fantasy 7 (PSone): Final Fantasy 7 was revolutionary to me because of the Materia. you had to buy your magic, just like the original Final fantasy games. but what's cool in that game was Cloud's Buster Sword. Man that thing's big. 5. Kingdom Hearts (PS2): though I am still trying to beat this game on Pro (Which by the way is Impossible!) I can see that this game is a classic in itself. finally the disney characters do something besides make us laugh. 6. The Legend of Dragoon (PSone): This game was alright and then some. the game has you as a sup'd up warrior who can transorm into a spectacular armor that gives you power. It was just... cool. 7. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES): This game was very interesting to me. I was young and in Japan at the time but I got my hands on Super Mario 3 for a bargain of $20. There's simply no word for this game because where else are you able to summon a tornado with a whistle. 8. Pac-Man (Atari 2600?) because I don't know the original console for it, don't breathe down my neck about. when I had this game I was very young. I had all kinds of atari favorites. But I don't know what the names are I do remember this one. the only time I got perfect in pac-man was when it was summer and in the middle of a carolina drought. It was beautiful. 9. Harvest Moon: Another wonderful Life (Gamecube): This one I had questions about. Though it was a remake of A wonderful life, I still say this game was better. The only reason was because it was revised better and you could do more. The only problem was the freezing. Man I hate it when it freezes on me. 10. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the seven Stars: I can say from experience that this game was the very first mario game to go 3-D. This game was great in that it gave me a new experience with mario, plus a couple characters were added. Mallow and Geno were, I'd says not as useful as I thought they were. But it was fun nonetheless. Well that's my favorites. Complete with the old and new.

Company of Heroes (PC) this is age of empires, rise of nations and medal of honour thrown in the blender 1. Honorable Mentions: Mario Party 5, Sim City 2000, Command And Conquer: Yuri's Revenge, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
20) Guitar Hero 1/2 Playstation 2 This game hits it so low for me now because I've had the pleasure of beating Freebird on Expert. As much fun as these games are, I don't think I could ever sit down and play more than one or two songs, even in multiplayer, ever again. The first and only game that I have ever overplayed.19) Metroid Prime Gamecube Echoes is responsible for getting me into this game, and what a fun game it was. I love the tricks to make it non-linear, and the fighting system is completely awesome. I hope they make a Wii Metroid game, I'd buy a Wii in a hearbeat for that game.18) Final Fantasy (VII - IX) Playstation I put the whole series here because, in general, they're almost the same game. The story of all three kept me going, and I spent many mindless hours leveling up to beat the game. I think I spent over two hours battling the final boss of VIII, and I've spent the most time on that game. I'm one of the few who actually like it more than any of the other Final Fantasy games, but IX had a better story to me and VII was just great on so many levels.17) The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion 360 Man, what a deep game this is. It's so pretty, and there's so many options for your character that this game has many, many hours of replay value. There's at least 500 hours in just exploring the map.16) Sonic 2 Genesis Another game that I've never had the pleasure of beating. My brother and I would always play the multilayer, or sit down and blast through the first few levels and get bored so we went and rode our bikes. Never takes away from the fact that this was a great game, and tons of fun. Easily the best Sonic game ever created.15) Gran Turismo 2 Playstation I tried to count how many hours I have logged on this game, and can't. At one point, I even had times listed as top ten in the world for some tracks. I can easily say that this game has the most time logged of any game I've ever played, and that's by at least a thousand hours. Yes, I said beats my closest game by 1000 hours. The only reason it ranks at fifteen is the game hasn't had much staying power in the last few years with me.14) Super Mario 64 Nintendo 64 A game I never owned until now. I used to rent, borrow, or do anything else I could to try to play this game. Not too sure, but I think it was my first adventure into the 3D platforming games, and damn did I love it. I can easily pick it up and play to this day.13) Dynasty Warriors 5: Empires 360 Dynasty Warriors makes it so high because it's one of the few games that has a co-op mode that has been done to perfection. It's so much fun to pick up Lu Bu and Ma Chao and rape you some villagers and random Chinese fodder. One of the few games that I have completed 100%12) Perfect Dark Nintendo 64 Without this game, I'd never would have been your moderator. I waited so long for this game, and it lived up to its expectations. It makes the list not for the gameplay, but actually for the memories that I can associate with it and PDC.11) Halo/Halo 2 X-Box This is one of those game series that I know I'll be playing in ten years still. It just never gets old to me, and I can always pick it up and just play. If I get tired of Live, I'll give single player a run through. Just a great all-around game, even if the graphics aren't that pretty.10) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Nintendo 64 What else is there to say about this game? It's ****ing great.9) Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 Dreamcast Another game that I've achieved 100% on, I was damn good at it. It was before they started adding the crazy features, and after they had perfected the gameplay. The maps were fun, and the create-a-park was always good for a few kicks.8) Donkey Kong Country Super Nintendo A game that I can't really describe, but I still know every secret in it to this day. Out of fifteen or so games that I owned for the SNES, this one saw the most time.7) The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Super Nintendo I have way more memories of trying to beat this game, playing with my sister, or just dicking around dashing into walls because I was bored. Childhood memories and my stalled Zelda quest got this game so high on my list.6) Super Mario World Super Nintendo This and Donkey Kong Country have had a great run, but this one never did see the hours that DKC did. It ranks a little higher because of sheer joy of playing, replay, and childhood memories.5) ESPN NFL 2K5 PS2, X-Box The best football game ever created. No football game has ever had the gameplay and depth that this game has. Sure, it lacks a season mode, but that's what franchise is for. I can pick any random team and still have fun playing, or building them from scratch. I have 600+ hours on this game and counting, and I've almost cleared it 100%, that's how hard some of these trophies are to earn. I'm still convinced that Jason Elam can't kick a 63 yard field goal.4) Mario Kart 64 Nintendo 64 So many four player multiplayer hours on this game with my brothers and their cousin. This was before I know better, but I can pick it up at any time and play... given that there's someone else to play with. Also, the only kart racing game that I will ever enjoy, ever.3) Super Mario Brothers 3 NES The best NES game, period.2) Goldeneye Nintendo 64 Wow, where do I start? Eleven years old and still counting, and I've been playing since damn near the day it came out. I still pick it up and play to this day, and I issue an open challenge to anyone to try to beat me in multiplayer, because I'm damn good at what I do.1) Tetris Game Boy, flash, BOWEP BAM! There's a shocker. Second in hours only to Gran Turismo 2, and that's only because I've never consistently owned a copy of the game. I think I may have more hours on this game than GT2, but it's impossible for me to tell. I'm very picky about which versions I play, and I know for a fact that it could keep me occupied for days. If I had unlimited batteries, this game, and a desert island I'd be happy for the rest of my life. |
