Exclamation Carpal Tunnel

Anybody else ever experience symptoms of carpal tunnel? I don't usually have problems if I'm just doing typing but if I play games for too long my hands start to cramp up.

I have actually had to take a break from playing the game helicopter because my hand was killing me after playing for hours upon hours of clicking.

It also happens with games that used the WASD keys for movement, especially Battlefield which uses the left CTRL key to run. After several hours of playing I get cramps.

I've been sticking to typing lately which hasn't really caused any problems as far as I know.

I may end up weighing 500lbs but I'll still find a way to pull it off sexily at the nudist colony. ~ysabel

I get the pins and needles feeling in my left hand on the last 2 fingers almost everyday. I'm too much of a chicken **** to go to the doc's about it though.

Mom told me never to talk to strangers, and you're pretty strange.

Yes in High School when I played RTS games for hrs on end.

However not so much in the past 4-6 years unless I play the 360 for hrs (we are talking 5+ of some intense button-mashing like Halo 3 or Soul Calibur or something like that). I hardly ever play any game for longer than 2 hrs now. Mass Effect was a recent exception but it's not that interactive with the controller so my wrists never hurt.

So no I haven't had any symptoms of that nature...

I am pretty sure I have it in my left hand.. if not both. All of my jobs I have had require me to type.. fast and constantly. My job basically consists of typing and proof reading for 8 or more hours a day. Not only do i get carpal tunnel type symptoms, but arthritis type symptoms too. Hooray!

Sometimes I have, but using ergonomic keyboards and mice help a lot.

Don't lie.

Yes, I have. It usually happens if I'm playing a game that requires time and lots of movement of the hands. FPS and RPGs have me hurting in an hour or so due to the rapid movement and always using the hands.

I agree. I've been using an ergonomic keyboard for a while now and I can't go back to the standard straight keyboard. I think ergonomic helps quite a bit.

So true. Sitting position and wrist support is also important, my mouse mat has a raised section to support my wrist. When not at my desk I get pains if my hands are at abnormal angles

I used to have terrible pains in my right hand(mouse), I bought a Razer gaming mouse, not for the gaming but for the dpi, now my hand movements are less than 5mm in any direction and the pains have gone away. Constant clicking did not help either but the button is much softer on a gaming mouse. They are well worth the extra money they cost.

When I do game I rarely use the standard layout instead I customise my keys, I dont like the asdw key layout. I like using all the home, pgup, pgdown keys and the numpad so when I buy a keyboard I look for the correct layout for me....damn I sound anal

I just did a quick search for products to help with repetitive strain and I came across this badboy. it has wing-mirrors

As someone who uses his hands a lot I'm surprised I don't get it to much. I think the only pain I get is in my thumb Muscle but that has nothing to do with typing. I use my hands a whole lot during the day, and after I come home and practice, I'm back on the computer and typing, and or I'll be slammed down those buttons on my 360 Controller.
