Exercise in a Pill
Mice Get Fit With 'Exercise in a Pill' - MSN Health & Fitness - Fitness
I figured I would link this article to this board since there was the discussion about weight loss surgery earlier.
Basically, This is a pill in the making to increase indurance and provide the benefits of exercising by taking it. Of course, it has only been tried on mice so far, but there has been an increase in exercise tolerance.
How do you feel about this? Do you think this will become a new craze later on down the road?
I am wondering what effects this might have on a person's heart.

The best way to stay healthy is to keep away from as many drugs as possible.
Why flood your body with chemicals when all you need is a little push in the exercise direction.

I read about this a few days ago. I'm sure if it's made available for people it will be the new fitness craze. I can see the infomercials already...
It won't help people who just want to sit around though. Sure the pill will give you more endurance (maybe) according to the article but that won't benefit you unless you actually go work out.
Plus you have to think of the possible side effects. Something like this sounds like it must be fairly complicated. I wouldn't use it just because I don't want to be a stat or a lawsuit after some crazy side effects happened.
This sounds somewhat similar to creatine which is organic (not a drug).. seems to be a better option to me at least.

To me, there's nothing like the endorphin high you get after a really good workout. I think big part of that is the sense of accomplishment, and you can't get that from taking a pill.

Well maybe not THIS pill. I'm sure there are pills out there that will give you a similar "high"...

Thats' retarded, this is just another solution for those lazy people who don't want to go and do anything whatsoever, the only way to get the actual benefits of working out is working out.
All of the fun in working out is the fact that you worked out, what's so fun about talking a pill?
...........seriously.

This one right here is when I don't have to do it, which leaves nothing else but the one. No I don't think so. Not there. God I wish I could turn the volume-OH **** Aahhh son of a **** I talk too much. ****." - 00vega -

I know there are tons of studies out saying creatine is almost essentially safe, but I wouldn't touch it. Not after the isolated cases of it causing the heart to basically flood with water and fail.. These were years ago, but one was at my high school and now I just say no lol. I just don't believe in anything to help endurance or lose weight. It is just not healthy. All of the effects it puts on your body to cause you to lose weight or be "stronger" just does not seem good to me.
I imagine this drug would be tested extensively before put on the market, but it basically just sounds like a legal stimulant in some ways.

the only reason i would take it is because it is that extra shove in the exercise direction.... it sounds like it would make it easier to work out so maybe its a jumpstart to a healthier, more exercise filled lifestyle

Just another reason for lazy overweight people to sit around doing nothing even longer..."I'm waiting for the pill"
I wouldn't take it even if I needed to. A few simple lifestyle changes are all it takes to become fit and healthy.
If you were whining about exercising before, a pill isn't going to change your attituded towards it, or make you more motivated to hit the gym.
