How far do you push yourself?

Have you ever worked out so much that you felt physically ill afterwards?

Yesterday was a very stressful day for me, I had to say a temporary goodbye to one of the most important people in my life.
I went to the gym in hopes of forgetting some of my sadness and ended up doing more than I ever have.
55 minutes on the elliptical had me sweating like a pig, then I used the weight machines until I felt like throwing up. It wasn't that I was purposely pushing myself that hard, I don't think I even realized how much I had done until I felt sick.

No, I never push myself as hard as you described. I dont usually move around that much let alone go to the gym a lot or work out for ages haha. I guess I should start doing more than I am at the moment, but I don't think I'll go all that far with it... so far as to make you sick does not sound healthy

That's actually happened to me but mostly due to the fact that I hadn't eaten. I think it might have to do with conditioning because I'll spend an hour on the elliptical too but haven't felt like that. Now after a spinning class? That's a whole other story.

The furthest I've ever pushed myself was probably when I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back in a day. It was 116 degrees. Getting down to the bottom was easy. Going back up? Wow. Within about 20 minutes of going uphill my energy was completely drained and it was hard just stepping one foot in front of the other.

I think that actually had a lot to do with it. I had only had a microwave meal for lunch several hours earlier.

I few days I ran through joint pain in the back of my knees. I would be sore the next day and just take a ton of advil and do it again.

I figured out a couple of things. I coudn't run 3 days in a row. I needed a break after 2 back to back days. And I could not run 6 miles more than 3x a week.

5 miles every other day worked very well for me.

My friend and I were just talking about this a couple of days ago. He just started a new workout program and pushed himself to the point where he actually threw up...poor guy

I've never pushed myself to the point of actually getting sick, but I push myself past that comfort level. I always reach that point where I feel like I've done as much as I can, and then I go a little further. I do notice that my tummy will start to roll sometimes, depending on how much or little I ate and drank that day.

Back in the days when i did train,we would often push ourselves to the point of feeling ill.
I used to hate it,we would get pushed to the point of near physical sickness, then get 5 maybe 10 minutes rest before having to spar for three rounds!.
You could see the dread on our faces as they decided who the first two would be,if you got caught with a gut shot that was it,all over!.
I look back on those days and think why the hell did i do that!.

at the end of tons of wrestling practices you just wanted to die, not only were you in tons of pain and nearly unable to move after some of them, you wanted to throw up and many times people did. It was a combination of sprints, overtime sprints, not making time and having to have another go at it, lifting more weight than you should for longer than you should, and wrestling for 2 1/2 hours something about it just killed you.

After that you just go home and sit doing nothing, and sleeping feels very good.
