Babe Ruth Official Thread
So lets talk about Babe Ruth, in my opinion still the Home Run King, and he's the greatest player to ever play Baseball. In this thread, I want people to tell what they admired most about the Great Bambino. I also want to talk about his personality, on the diamond and outside the diamond. Everyone knows he was a drinker, and a womanizer, but I wouldn't hold that against him, because half the other ball players did it as well. I also want to touch base on how get got along with his teammates and managers. I know he didn't get along to well with Miller Huggins, but how bad was the relationship between them? I also want to touch base on is relationship with Lou Gehrig, some people said they hated each other, and some people say that they were friends on the diamond but didn't talk outside of that. What's the true story between them? How did he get along with the Front Office, I know there was a lot of contract dispute between him and the Yankees front office. He refused to play for them on a number of occasions. I also want to talk about on how idolized he was, and everyone knows that the Kids loved him and he loved them back. He was a great person when it came to kids, visited orphanages, sign baseballs. So lets start a discussion about Babe Ruth. What can you answer of the things I want to talk about him? |

Babe will always be the legend and face of baseball. No even came close to his figures back during his day. He saw the ball like no one else, and just crushed it. And look at his figure -- it's not the most athletic. I don't believe he relied on just pure strength like McGwire and Bonds do. Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron were two guys that to me where the best homerun hitters of their game, without the controversy. Babe Ruth averaged 11.76 AB/HR. His career average was .342. Simply amazing. And the guy was a legitimate pitcher in his early days too. He made everybody else look like AAA ballplayers when he was both at the plate and and on the mound. Simply amazing.
