You can paintball they're Holocaust Denial Bake Sale for all I care, I just won't defend you when your arrested for being assault. I myself considered highly paintballing the westbro baptist church when they came to town, not because I didn't think they had a right to say whatever they wanted, I just wanted to paintball them for it, had I done it and got arrested for it, I think I would have felt pretty good about it while I sat in the local jail.
I think we didn't do it out of laziness.

You know what? I was eagerly anticipating someone to post why the holocaust never happened.
Sadly I am disappointed.

You were too soft on them: you should've done what the boys did on Malcolm in the Middle once, make a huge slingshot and throw tons af nasty stuff at them. No mercy

In my country, Germany, Holocaust denial is a criminal offense that can be punished with up to several years in prison.
I am divided over the question if this is good or not. But I don't think it is a horrible violation of free speech that it is a punishable crime. But maybe this ban is unnecessary.
While I agree we must be very careful when it comes to banning mere speech, I don't understand the typically American argument according to which speech is just speech, and deeds are deeds. I don't think you can separate both that clearly, hate speech will inevitably lead to crimes. History has proven as much, so have many scientific experiments, such as the Milgram Experiments. People don't have an entirely free will, but are susceptible to manipulation, due to hate speech.
Also, those Americans who often cry bloody murder when they learn Germany bans certain hate speech, are hypocritical, I think: You cannot condemn legal prosecution of human right violating incitement on one hand, but on the other hand support it when your country starts wars and invades other countries, just for the same reasons. America considers it a reason for war when human-right hating lunatics are in power in some country, be it Hitler, Saddam or Ahmadinejad, and you believe it's just to kill thousands of people in order to liberate a country from them -- but when the very same kind of people within your country get a trial for incitement, you cry about their violated free speech? That's a double standard.
On the other side, I don't think our German hate speech laws against Nazis are still necessary. They were made in 1949 and the early 50s, when we were still afraid Nazism may rise again. But that has not happened since then. Nazi parties never won enough votes to enter the national parliament, and they were and are fringe parties. The large majority of Germans, our mainstream, is very anti-Nazi and easily condemns far-right politicians when they made an even remotely far-right statement.
So I think the danger of Nazism ever becoming a threat again in Germany, or even taking over, is minimal. Not larger than in other Western countries. So maybe punishing Nazi incitement even with prison sentences is like breaking a fly on the wheel.

Well we weren't all on board with the Iraq war, I wasn't and I know I wasn't the only one. I do believe though Germany was at war with our allies so it wasn't so much to liberate the Germany people as it was to just plain kick the **** out of them.
However incitment of riots and violence through hate speech is a very different thing than genocide, sure hate might be the base motivation but if someone says all queers should die, and three rednecks go a kill a queer its a much different story than when a dictator is gassing Kurds or partaking in the holocaust.
We have freedom of speech here, and hate speech is protected speech, just because someone says something it doesn't mean you have to act on it.

I once had someone tell me that there was no proof the victims were gassed in showers at all.
