Records

I was wondering which Hockey Records you think will ever be broken?

Despite my undying hatred of Brodeur; i think he'll end up breaking the majority of the NHL goaltending records and set some pretty high team goaltending records for future goalies on the Devils.

Sorry Turbo I had a little typo in my original message. I meant which NHL record will never be broken. Once again sorry Turbo for the mistake.

Well I think with the players in the NHL today no record is truly safe however im going to go with a team record and one that a lot of teams will not want to break but the 38 straight road losses for the Sens back in 92-93. Even with teams being as bad as they can be on the road in some cases that record will stand in my view because really no team can lose 33 straight road games. It would take a lot of work for the team haha.

Another would have to be the Chicago Black Hawks average of 0.75 goals per game back in 1928in the NHL to-29. Teams day just can't do that. The speed of the players and the skill would easily tell you that teams will not get shut out much. So if a team does at all I doubt they would get as low as that for goals a game on average for a season.

A last one would have to be Longest Consecutive Point Scoring Streak, More Than One Playoff Year which of course was set by Brian Trottier who had one going for 27 games. As good as players might be I doubt they can take that record. First off it would take awhile to get 27 games into a couple playoff years and when you do the action really picks up and the points are harder to get.

There are a hell of a lot more but that's all I can think of right now.

I doubt that someone will score 92 goals that was set by The Great One himself Wayne Gretzky. Another record of is that will never be broken will be 50 goals in 39 games. Even with the scoring ability of players coming into the NHL right now those records are almost un-reachable. Paul Coffey's 48 goals by a defencemen is definitly un-breakable. But in my opinion a record that will never be touched is Bobby orr's plus/minus record he was at +133. Which is un-heard of.

Yeah Bobby Orr's record is going to stand thats that but I don't know about thw 92 goals in a season. I mean there is a lot of guys that can score a goal or two each game and that can really rack them up and if a guy really tries im sure he could but will it I can't say because I really don't know. Coffey's record could stand but with the defencemen in the game taking an offensive role nowadays that could be broken but much like Gretzky's records they probably won't be. It basically comes down to the factor of whether or not the guys can get all of the skills and the knowledge that they need to break these records. I mean no player can set a record alone. He needs a team to be built behind him and around him and he needs the experience that the NHL gives.

Another record that I can't see being broken will be Eddie Shore's record for most stitches for a player. I think it was 978 or something around there. Well none the hell with the new rules and the way the game has changed players won't be able to get a record like that. Not that you'd want it but heck atleast you get into the record book.

Scoring 92 goals in a game is harder then you think. Were calling Ovechkin a pure scorer in today's league and I doubt he'll reach 70 goals. Plus Teemu Selanee score 76 in is rookie year which was amazing, but he was still 16 goals shy from the record. Plus Sheldon Souray as 23 goals right now which is amazing by a defencemen, but he's still 25 goals aways from the record. I agree with you on the Eddie Shores record. With goalie mask there's no way players can get that much stitches in today's game.

Another record that will never be broken is Wayne Gretzky holds 61 all time NHL records. Same goes with fastest hat trick by Bill Moisenko. He scored 3 goals in 21 seconds.

I agree it seems like neither of those records will go ever. Those were things that just happened and chances are will never happen again and with the goals coming so much now a days the lowest I think we can see a GAA in one year will still be no less than 1.60 or around there and again that's at the most. It's going to damn near impossible to top that ever. 3 goals in 21 seconds will never go. That's just not going to happen. Gretzky's record of 61 NHL records (that sounds so funny) but anyway that will seemingly never be touched unless one player can really explode out of an area and really set a standard for other players like Gretzky did but again I doubt it can happen.

Another record I don't think will ever be broken will be Dave Williams record of 3966 penalty minutes through a career. Today we just seen a lot of minor penalites called and not a lot of fighting majors like we used to and if your going to spend 20 years in the league then you would have to have a lot of penalty minutes a year in order to catch up to that record. It's going to be very hard to even tie that record.

Staying with that one I have to go with Dave Schultz record of 472 penalty minutes in one season. That can not be topped today. We have some guys that are able to get 200 or even 300 if they really tried but there is no way that a player can accumlate that many over one season. It just can't happen anymore due to the new NHL and the lack of physical play and fighting that we traded up.

Randy Holt's record for 9 penalties in one period is also not going to be topped. He got a total of 67 or something that game which is just impossible to do. I don't know much about the game but I would assume he got in a few fights. Thus it probably won't happen again because other than the Ottawa vs Buffalo brawl earlier this year there has not been a big fight that would result in a player being given that many minutes in the box.

I agree with all the Penality Records. If this is actually the new NHL and the hooking, grabbing, and fighting is completely out of the game. Then there's no way there will be another enforcer like Dave Williams. And the all time penanly record in one season will never be touched aswell. A guy like Dave shultz or Bob Probert for example can't play in this new NHL. They'll fight from time to time but they have to ajust their game and be more of a scorer then a fighter.

I have to put my boys in this category. There 132 points in the 1976-77 season will never ever be touched. No matter how good a team can be.
