Everyday I listen to NHL Live on the NHL Network and people have rule change suggestions and I thought it might be interesting to see what we'd all change as far as rules go.

1. 5 minute fighting penalty results in a 5-minute 4-on-4. Might make coaches and players be a bit more cautious in fights.

2. Goalies CAN BE HIT...take out the trapazoid but any goalie leaving the crease to play the puck can be checked.

3. Pucks played into the bench should be included into the delay of game rule.

4. Any player who jumps or reaches up to play the puck with his hand is given a 2-minute delay of game penalty.

Probably would curb fighting, so I'm good with it. While two goons fighting it out doesn't favor either team, there's always a team with better playmakers or more speed that benefits from the 4v4.

Crease is too small, also the goalie usually is going to have their back facing the players coming towards them. Collisions would also be very high velocity and thus more likely to cause goalie or player injury. Pass.
I think the existing prohibition against the offensive handpass is enough restriction on the use of hands. The game should be able to be played fully in three dimensions.

Icing should be whistled when the puck crosses the goal line- players should not be required to touch.

i agree on the no touch icing...guys are getting seriously hurt trying to chase down pucks to prevent icing. either the goalie should touch to keep play going or auto icing.

Wouldn't that make less talented teams hesitate on fighting?? I'd hate that.

Bad idea; alot of goalies have their back towards the entire 2 teams when a puck is dumped behind their net. If we allow players to to hit goalies were going to get a stock pile of upper body injuries.
All it took is an incident in state junior where a player became quadriparylzed and I get chills when I play or watch an icing.

Other than that I'd like the shootout to be extened to 5 rounds, 0 points for loosing in overtime, no instigter, and a 2 inch trim of goalie pads.

the 2-points for a win and 0 for a loss is something i think we all agree on.

actually the 5-minute 4-on-4 fighting might help less talented teams by opening up the ice more. one less player to fight through to get to the offensive zone.

IF they can out skate and out pass the more talented team, and with 8 skaters on the ice.. the rink is much bigger.

i've seen teams get outskated by opponents that shouldn't be able to on a 4-on-4. it has potential to even increase scoring.

I like this idea alot. I always wondered why this didnt happen anyways. Would create more offense and more excitement.

Ehhh I dont really like this idea all that much. I dont think goalies should be checked...I would like to see goalie interference toned down a little bit but I dont like this rule.

Terrible terrible terrible idea. I dont mind the delay of game rule but this is ridiculous.

Another terrible idea.

The first one seems like the only good idea. Checking goalies? Come on.

the goalies wanna play the puck more then they should be fair game outside the crease. hell, goalies are supposed to get a 2-minute delay of game for covering up the puck to stop play if they aren't in the crease and it has yet to be called.
