Rumor: Wings interested in Ray Emery

There have been reports out of Detroit that recently released net-minder Ray Emery has received calls from the Red Wings front office.

Full Article

Maybe he could be a good fit in Hockeytown. Obviously he can play well with a good roster in front of him, but then again Emery seems to have that habit of shelling up when he's under media fire or scrutiny. Is D-Town maybe to big of a market for Emery?

I dont think Ray Emery and Detroit mix. Emery is a nut job and will get eaten up in Detroit if he faulters. Plus, they should give Howard a chance.

I agree with Millz here. If Emery was to land in Detroit he'd be eaten alive. Plus that club is just all about winning games now. They always have been and their cup win last year will just set their goal for this year and I think Osgood is twice as good of a goalie then Emery would ever be. Emery is just the Avery of the younger generation and of goaltenders.

I don't know much about Ray Emery, but I agree that Jimmy Howard should be given a chance. Between Jimmy and Ozzie I think we're good.

I'll be honest.... I'm so used to seeing Osgood as a backup that he just seems odd as a starter to me.

Howard does have tons of potential in my Eyes and I cannot wait to see what he is capable of when he gets a little more seasoned.

It would be a huge mistake from the Wings part if they did sign Emery, he's a trouble maker and he's not a good teammate, he only cares about himself and no one else. He belongs somewhere like the Kings because he believes he's a Hollywood star.

Well it'd be an even bigger mistake if they signed him now since they already have Osgood , Howard and Conklin in the mix for those two big club spots and lets face it Osgood and Conklin all but have those wrapped up now. I think the Wings should be pretty happy with their off season anyways. Got Hossa and Conklin and basically got their core from last year back. Hard to pick against them going into this season.

There's no way that the Wings will sign him now which I'm very happy because I personally hate Emery and believe that he's a cancer to any team he joins. He only cares about himself and not his teamates. I'm happy the Wings went the other direction and signed Conklin instead of Emery.
