Paul Rodriguez regrets voting for Obama because the Obama epa is rationing water to a point CA farms are being forced to shut down:
And I'm not trying to hijack your thread but this week, I honestly thank God McCain didn't win. McCain and Obama are brothers when it comes to cap-and-trade and it would fly through the Senate if a Republican was pushing it. At least with Obama in the White House, there's a chance to stop it. |

I would say that I am a Democrat, but open to candidates from other parties. I was about 70% Obama and 30% McCain until McCain brought on Palin. At that point, Obama could have eaten live puppies, and I would've voted for him.
But seriously, if we are just looking at how Obama is doing versus how McCain would have done (not taking into consideration their VP's doing much or needing to take their place), I do not regret voting for Obama. I feel like he needs to get moving on some stuff. The main thing that worries me is him becoming a sitting-duck president. I don't fear he'll do anything astronomically wrong. But I fear he won't do anything period. I'd like to see more action.

Never have. May if the war drags along and he balks on issues like detention, habeus corpus, and gay rights. If the economy still sucks, I won't- not his problem, the problems were previous presidents of both parties, particularly Reagan, Clinton, and Bush.

He hasn't exactly lived up to his campaign promises, I will admit, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I regret voting for him, especially considering the alternative. I believe we'd be in a ****heap of trouble with Iran if McCain were president right now.

Care to cite examples? They were both for cap n' trade... that'll tank the economy. They both were for big government, although I think McCain was to a lesser extent. They both would have spent our way out of "problems"... maybe I'm not seeing your rationale here, but I think we'd be in the same boat either way.
You can't spend and tax your way out of a recession. They both would have done it. |

While I agree that past presidents had a much bigger influence on the economy, I think Obama's made enough huge decisions regarding it that it should at least factor into people's thinking.

I don't think you get to regret a new President (or any other kind of leader, for that matter) until they've actually spent a majority of time in power --> It hasn't even been half a year yet. We've seen a mere 11% of this whole duration of time (5% if he gets re-elected). Of course, I'm not saying that the other 89 - 95% of time is going to go one way or another; I'm saying it's too early to make a call of any kind. Good (or bad) politics takes more than 160 days. |

I was going to bring up this point earlier, it's a tough question because to regret voting for him means you wish you had voted for McCain, which I'm not sure there are many who feel that way. Some may have a negative opinion of him and his approval rating may fall, but they still wouldn't regret it, because they still wouldn't vote for McCain in a do-over.

Wade, while I generally agree, I will say that given the complexity of the economy, I most would by 2012 consider the economy to be a Bush-Obama transition point, as effects of earlier policies begin and others end. So while the economy may compel me to vote Green, Peace and Freedom,or Socialist USA in 2016, in 2012 I'd generally call it muddled and focus on other things.
