Ever since the animation industry had gone to CGI and 3D, there was one thing that never entered my mind until now:

What would happen if people ever got tired of CGI and 3D animation?

I am sure there will be many future advancements before anyone gets sick of 3D. I hope so anyway.

Holograms.

Maybe 4D cinema. That can be fun.

Than we'd be back to people actually doing crazy stunts, and 1970 Godzilla-type moves.

No, but really, I don't know what would happen. I'm personally not a big fan of CGI, 3D etc movies, so it wouldn't really affect me.

Crouton's hologram theory is probably closer to technology's future realities, lol, but my guess would be that there would be a new renaissance of 2D drawn animation.

I don't mind a new form of 2D drawn animation as long as it's not crappy.

There still is a lot of 2D animation being made.

A lot of people use both 3D and 2D. They create characters in 3D programs then draw over them to make them look 2D.

Such as in this film.
