I'm not quite sure which bands would be labeled "Death Metal". People who are into this sort of music, name a few Bands.

what comes to mind; Job For A Cowboy, Cannibal Corpse, Decapitated, Behemoth, Black Dahlia Murder, Dimmu Borgir..Kataklysm ..

thats all i can come up with off top of my head! Not what I would usually listen to though haha

Don't listen to Job For A Cowboy. They just plain suck. They're repetitive and noisy, no sense for music.

I'm into progressive death metal bands like Gojira, Opeth, and Mastodon. Also melodic death metal bands like In Flames and Children of Bodom.

I know Cannibal Corpse is important to Death Metal but I can't stand them.

Carcass, Morbid Angel, Entombed, Nile, At the Gates, Dark Tranquility... all good bands. Although not all of them still play death metal, they have dabbled in the genre or just downright started one of the subgenres of death metal.

Corpse, Bloodbath, Death, Deicide, Godflesh, Vader, Napalm Death, Dying Fetus, Pulseless, Obituary, Pig Destroyer, Slayer, Pantera, Metallica, Venom, At The Gates, Bolt Thrower, Grave, Six Feet Under, Dublin Death Patrol, The Haunted, Amon Amarth, Black Label Society, Motorhead, Head Cat, Suicide Silence, Heaven Shall Burn, Dimmu Borgir, Aborted, Belphegor, Rob Zombie, Crematory, Skinless, Celtic Frost, Gojira, Lamb of God, Machine Head, Rebel Meets Rebel, Damageplan, Megadeth, Hellyeah, Slipknot, DevilDriver, Municipal Waste, Akercocke, Testament, Hatesphere, Alice Cooper, Manson, Job For a Cowboy, Korn, Manowar, SOAD, Rammstein, God Forbid, Ministry, Wasp... to name a few off the top of my head.

I realize some of those aren't Death Metal... but still good ****.

Death metal isn't for me.

No, not for everyone it's loud, obnoxious and is full of hatred. but that's why i like it haha

If you think Death Metal sucks then why are you looking for bands?

Death Metal is an acquired taste and you can just find some awesome band and say "**** yea 'tis the ****."

I've slowly began to appreciate Death Metal but am still quite picky on the genre, still I'm heavily into a few great bands.

*Benighted -is an all around insane band.
*Pitbulls in the Nursery - is an insanely solid French Death Metal band.
Despised Icon - Isn't bad.
*Nile - My favorite band theme. Egypt mythology is badass.

Under the Melodic Death Metal genre:
*Dark Tranquility - Hence the ava/sig
Kalmah - is also a diverse Melo Death band

* Highly recommended bands

If you had read the OP you would have realized that I wasn't sure what where labeled death metal and I wanted to see if i liked them.

In my opinion, the one's I bolded (if that's even a word) aren't Death Metal, and SOAD and Motorhead definitely aren't I would say that maybe they're Hard Rock or Metal, but not Death Metal. Slipknot are slightly more hardcore than the rest of my selection, but I still wouldn't class them as Death Metal. (Though to be fair, you did point that out, but I didn't notice that until I'd written most of that )

Some of my favourite bands which I would classify as between Hard Rock and Metal are Disturbed, Metallica, Rammstein, and a bunch of others

If you really don't like them, how can you like Atreyu? Some of the stuff I'd heard by them seem about as hardcore as the rest of the above.

And Metallica are amazing How anyone can dislike them is beyond me
