Better Than Me - Hinder
I kind of hate this song, but there's no better one if you want to be really depressed.

Have you heard "Bliss (I don't want to know)" by them. I think it's better.
Also:
Hallelujah- Jeff Buckley
Into Dust- Mazzy Star
Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word- Ray Charles
There are some others. Can't be bothered to type them.

Hybrid Symphony-Sasha & Digweed
Well, I have no proof that the song is sad because it is electronic and has no words. But I remember seeing Sasha & Digweed live and every time I hear this song I get that tingle on the back of my neck as if I had rolled. After the build up around 7 minutes ( Oh yeah song is long as hell too ) The string section has some serious emotion behind it. I don't know for sure if it's sadness, but I know there was something behind the making of it. It wasn't just some "let's sit down and crank out a hit" studio session. Somebody left a portion of themselves in it. I wish more musicians took the time to figure out the true expression side of music.

I don't like Evanescence. The Birthday Massacre are a much better band. They're kind of similar, female vocalist, heavy guitars, but instead of ladening their songs with strings, they use synths. Much cooler.

Hear You Me - Jimmy Eat World
One of the best sad songs ever. It's so soft I have to turn up the volume just to hear it. It's got a nice 3/4 beat and it's only a guitar (sounds acoustic, not sure), keyboard, and a minor drum part in the background.

I Will Follow You into the Dark by Death Cab for Cutie.
Its one of my favorite songs. I love acoustic guitar but it is very very sad.

Johnny Cash's song, Hurt, always makes me sad. Here's a blog post listing down the saddest songs ever and it also reflects Cash's song as one of the saddest song too:
