OK, this is kind of a follow up to my 'Hip Hop VS Rap' thread. Now as silly as this situation is it has a point to it. Now, Old School Rap icon Ice-T (now an actor) has pretty much targeted Soulja Boy as single handedly murdered hip hop. (among other things I don't care to repeat) Soulja Boy has replied to that on Youtube which didn't make the situation any better and Ice-T responded once again. Here are the videos of the insults and you be the judge.

Well, gotta put my 2 cents in the hat. Ice-T was wrong how he went about expressing his opinion, but he was telling the truth. What I'm worried about is what's being taught to the youngsters because most of his fans are kids. Anyone can make a dance song. That's not the problem. Cupid did that and then there was the The Cha-Cha slide. My issue is what is being said. There are a few questionable lines in Crank Dat: "I'm Cocking On Your ****" & "Super soak That Hoe" are just a couple. What does that have to do with the dance? Then he has songs called "She Got A Donk" and "Booty Meat". Ask yourself, Would you let your kids or younger siblings (8-14) listen to that?

This entire scenario is sad. They both have their points, but it's not really fair to blame Soulja Boy for the state of hip-pop right now. Things have been downhill for a long time. Around 98-99 the record industry realized they had a pop like cash cow in their laps and there has been a steady decline ever since. So while they take shots at each other no one points at the real culprit, the labels getting all the doe who are going to make something off of all this probably. Ice-T is saying it isn't a new school old school thing, but it really is, because in the old school hip-hop was still considered a nitch genre so artists A&R's were willing to do something different, in fact, were always searching for the "new" thing. Now it is about selling what they know has already worked and again I don't blame kids like Soulja Boy for that, I blame the jack **** who cut him a check. His music isn't music at all, it's just business as usual. Nothing new.

Yeah, you're right Philly. The labels are the real culprits behind all of the watered down mess that constantly gets released. I honestly feel that stuff like this are just constant money making gimicks that are constantly keeping people in a state of ignorance. Now, Soulja Boy isn't the source of the problem. That I do know. He's just another pawn of the production companies that endorses the same ignorant stereotypes of black youth that will eventually be thrown away once he's used up. The people that are in the same boat with Soulja Boy all see us has hating on what they do and think we're jealous. Half of that is true, but the way I see it (and I speak for the people with common sense) it's us trying to tell them the truth. But you know what, most of the younger generation are so dumb-deaf that they don't care.

This is so stupid, it was wrong for Ice-T to call him out, but it's true Soulja Boy's stuff is garbage, and needs to stop making music.
When Tupac and Biggie were having words like this it actually made sense and had a meaning behind it, but this stuff right here is stupid and idiotic. "How to hit home runs: I swing as hard as I can, and I try to swing right through the ball...The harder you grip the bat, the more you can swing it through the ball, and the farther the ball will go. I swing big, with everything I've got. I hit big or I miss big. I like to live as big as I can." Babe Ruth

i know this will sound silly, but with the way hip hop is now, i wish that east coast vs west coast rivalry thing was still going on. at least the people doing those battles could actually RAP.
i can't say the same thing for souljaboy and all the other hear today gone tomorrow sort of "rappers". next year this time we won't even know who he is. i just can't believe some people don't see anything wrong with "superman dat ho" and there are chickenheaded females out there on the dancefloor dancing to that crap like it's hot. i guess they missed the part where he was disrespecting women with his lyrics. lol!!
