Billups Has Interest In Milwaukee

Boston Globe - When this season ends, Pistons guard Chauncey Billups has a player option worth $6.8 million for 2007-08. According to a close friend of Billups, the veteran point guard has interest in Milwaukee. And the interest might be mutual when the time is right.

With the Bucks projected to be $14 million under the salary cap next season and in need of a point guard, Billups could be a good fit. In Detroit's season-opening loss to Milwaukee Wednesday night, Billups saw the Bucks' young talent firsthand. The same friend said Billups liked what he saw.

Chicago signed Billups's former Detroit teammate Ben Wallace to a four-year deal worth $60 million during the offseason. And if you ask the Celtics, Billups was just as valuable to the Pistons as Wallace in recent years, if not more so.

"In my eyes, Chauncey is probably the best one-time All-Star in the history of the game," said Paul Pierce, who believes the Pistons' floor general should have received the honor at least three times. "The way he controls the game, the way his tempo is, the way he gets these guys going, he's the unquestioned leader of that team. He's capable of getting it done on both ends."

If Billups goes to the Bucks. then the pistons are going downhill. they already lost 1 of the 5 if they lose another of them they are done and wont be elite for a long time.

At first the Bucks wanted Hinrich but he signed a contract extension with the Bulls, now they have there eye on one of the best point guards in the East that's Billups, and I agree if Billups leaves the Pistons next season, then they're going downhill, even if they would still have Hamilton, Wallace and Prince.

Well this would suck. Chauncey, along with Big Ben, were the two leaders during Detroit's run. If the Pistons fall back to the pack more this year, I could see him leaving even though I wouldn't like it. My suitemate would though because he's a Bucks fan.

Well I looked to see what the Pistons people were saying and it doesn't sound like it will happen.

Also you have to remember, the Pistons are the first team that gave him a chance, and said your going to be my starting point guard, for the next couple of years, and we believe that you can lead us to a NBA Championship which he did. So I think he rather take a little less money to stay with the team that gave him this oppurtunity then going with another team.

I really wouldn't mind seeing Chauncey move about now. He is proved that he is a winner and shown us all his talent yet now Detroit have nothing really going for them. I say that but they aren't as promised for a championship as before, they will have to extremely hard. Milwaukee are also a young team, with a lot of potential and with a veteran all star, it would do them some good.
