Riley Says He'll Coach At Least Three More Seasons
Pat Riley said Monday he'll be back as coach of the Miami Heat for three more seasons, an announcement that ends months of speculation about his immediate future. The 62-year-old gave up coaching in 2003, then returned two years later and led the team to the 2006 NBA title. But the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last spring and he was noncommittal for months about whether he'd remain on the sideline. "I don't want to be a one-and-done guy," Riley said. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ar..._more_seasons/ |

He should have stuck to 2 season. 3 seasons is too much for this guy. He is old. Another NBA title for this guy, he'll have a heart attack

He might be old, but he loves the game to much to step down, and he still believes that he can teach these young kids the game, so why the hell should he step down? I don't see no reasons to do so, even if he's old. He's a good coach, and he has proven himself in the past.

well the reason he is signing on for three years is that that is when shaq and dwades contract runs out. so he knows shaq will be retired, and wade may(probably not) leave. so thats probably why its three years

Very well said Sunsfan. He still thinks this team can make a run for the title in the next few years. So he'll try his best to stay healthy and try to coach this team to another championship trophy. But when Shaquille O'neal retires which might happen in a few years from now I think that's also when Pat Riley will take is retirement. But like Michael Jordan said he's still a capable coach so there's no need for him to retire.

i think his magic has run out with the heat tho. a reason they were able to win in 06 was that everyone on that team believed. he made everyone believe. everyone on that team performed better. suddenly jason williams was a clutch player, antoine walker was jackin up crazy shots, the offense ran smoothly, payton made some clutch plays. it just seems alot of that kind of motivation he gave to players is getting a little old.

Your absolutly right, is players are getting up there in age, but I'm sure he can still light a fire under his players anytime he wants. If he couldn't he'd definitly would stepped down this year. He might not win another championship as the coach but he'll try his best to make sure the Heat contend for one.
