I think this is just another lame attempt to try and discredit Phelps' achievements.

Lol, in the united states league I swam in the touchpads didn't always stop when you touched lol.. But I highly doubt the olympics would have cheap touch pads like those, so no they can't really be argued with by any means.

He defenitely won the Gold medal fair and square. The wall his touch sensitive, like a few members mentioned. So even though on some angels it appeared that Cavic won the event, the sensor said that Phelps touched it before, making him the gold medalist.

Cavic did a huge mistake at the end of the race, he took an extra stroke, which he shouldn't of done, he should of lounge his arms towards the wall, like Phelps did. Thats why he lost.

did we watch the same Olympics? Phelps took an extra stroke, that's why he won! Cavic didn't even lunge, he coasted.

Phelps' Miracle Finish - Phelps Frame-By-Frame - Photos - SI.com

that's a close up shot which is way easier to tell. being a former swimmer i know a little bit more about the finishes and the touch pads. those things are beyond accurate and all of them start at the start buzzer simultaneously. also phelps took a HUGE risk by taking another stroke seeing as usually taking another stroke is the worst thing you can do at the end of the race like that; you are supposed to throw your head down and forward like cavic did. The whole conspericy is totally dumb though considering if you look at the pictures enlarged its obvious his hands look like they aren't touching because they are pushed against it more and he was already starting to come up because he had finished.

oh and as for the stupid hands have to touch at the same time rule. it is impossible for the touch sensors to gage if both hands touched at the same time. they stop when touched. and even so obviously the camera took the picture at an angle that makes it hard to tell if his hands touched at the SAME EXACT time. I'm pretty sure cavic wouldn't have wanted to win by such a trivial technicality which is pretty much impossible to prove.
