Did Michael Phelps Really Win That 7th Medal?
These people don't seem to think so. In fact they've spent quite a bit of time writing up a page that I bet nobody will actually read.
I skimmed and I'm not that worried. I saw the replay on the news and I'm fine with that. 100thofasecond.com presents: Michael Phelps - The Greatest Amphibian of All Time* - or just another corporate-owned Frankenstein? I say he won it fair and square. No massive conspiracy behind it. Sheesh!
I did think of asking you to join my little scheme, but somehow I knew, 007's loyalty was always to the mission, never to his friends. ~006

Yes, I think Phelps did actually touch the wall first. Replays and photos have pretty much confirmed it. It looks like Cavic won in that second picture, but the overhead shots are deceiving. From all the underwater angles you can tell Phelps won.

Also, I heard that the wall is sensitive to the touch so that once you hit it, the officials know.
Is that true? |

Yep they have an electronic touchpad which has been in use for years. They have to touch the wall to end the race proving they got there first.

He won fare and square. I saw the race and at first it was looking like the other guy was gonna win but then in the last few strokes Phelps pulled a bit ahead and touched the wall first.
You can clearly see him touch the wall first in all the replays from all angels. I don't think MP has anything to worry about. ~Banning spammers is easy, being politically correct is a pain in the ass~ ~Go V.I.P today~ Counting down to ~Halloween~: 116 days 11 hours 34 minutes |

I was wondering when some of this crap would come out. Its not like they have judges swimming under water looking up and deciding first or second like an umpire calls someone out or safe at first.
the medal is his, get over it Serbia. "People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." |

When I saw the overhead for the first few times I couldn't tell who won. After I heard about them having touchpads underneath the water, I knew that they would be correct since you actually need to touch it.

Yes Cons, in most competitive swimming there is the touchpad that clocks the time and generally 2 people who also watch, but I am not sure that the olympics even use people.
From those pictures, being a swimmer, you can tell that Phelps is going to take another stroke and the other guy is gliding into the wall.. Unfortunately for him, gliding into the wall is almost always slower than taking another stroke. That is where Michael Phelps got him.. Had Michael Phelps decided to glide into the wall as the other guy did he would have 100% positively lost, but he took that extra stroke, and clearly did win. Member of The Drinker's Union

Yep, the extra stroke is what gave it to him. Also the wall sensors can't really be argued with. It literally comes down to who touched it first. Phelps did by 1/100th of a second so he won fair and square.

They're complaining because Cavic coasted his lazy **** in Phelps didn't say no until he hit that wall.
