So you're saying they should not be penalized for breaking a rule they knew was there? That's ridiculous. Should steroid users not have their medals taken away? They work hard, too.

you are comparing this with steroid use? quite a bold comparison if you ask me, steroids give an unfair advantage to someone who uses it so that would be considered cheating, being too young to compete however? well I don't see any unfair advantage in that at all, enlighten me if you do though...

They are both breaking rules. It doesn't matter why the rules are there. They should be followed. What if the other countries left younger gymnasts off their teams despite the fact that they're better than the gymnasts that made the team that did fit the age requirement? Is it fair that China is allowed to get away with it?

It's a big advantage being smaller in women's gymnastics, and most likely the younger you are, the smaller you are as well.

Did you just say a kid shouldn't start gymnastics until they're 16?

They should choose that life, Winter, not be forced into it like the Chinese girls are.

In one of the interviews the news anchor went to one of the training houses where 3 year old's where having to do gymnastic type things like standing on their heads all day long, they didn't get an education or anything, basically the people go out and look for extremely flexible children and whenever they are done with their prime of gymnastics the children are basically left to do whatever they can to survive, which usually ends up being to preform for the rest of their lives. how does that sound willing or incomparable to child labor to you?

point is that there are rules for a reason and even if you don't agree with the rules, you have to follow them if you want to participate in the event.
Do you know the name of the gymnast(s) or have an article at least. That's pretty interesting. I need to read this to believe this first.

Legend, I've heard the same thing from the same broadcasts that Winter is referring to. Consider that enough outside confirmation that the mainstream media is saying these things about the Chinese gymnasts.

that's definitely not what i said..... they of course have to start way younger but there is nothing bigger to any athlete than the Olympics and that pressure is not suitable to a younger gymnast. like echoes said, smaller girls = better, in gymnastics and to be 16 and still able to compete at that high of a level is more of an achievement.... i don't know if I'm making sense but i hope so...
