Previous Olympics
I had a conversation the other day about the Olympics with a grandparent of my friend. The conversation turned to the London Olympics in 2012 and he announced that he had been present at the last Olympic games to be held in London which were in 1948.
I was wondering if anyone knew much about these games? |

Was there anything particular (sportswise) about the games in the 1948 Olympics? When I look at the date, all I can think of is post-war. I believe Germany and Japan didn't participate (or weren't allowed).

I found out that American Bob Mathias won a gold medal in the and became the youngest gold medalist to win a Decathlon ever! And that overall the United States of America ranked highest in the medal table, winning 84 medals in total!
