Tug-O-War doesn't belong in the Olympics, like lets be honest here. It wouldn't make sense to have it as an event in the Olympics.

"How to hit home runs: I swing as hard as I can, and I try to swing right through the ball...The harder you grip the bat, the more you can swing it through the ball, and the farther the ball will go. I swing big, with everything I've got. I hit big or I miss big. I like to live as big as I can." Babe Ruth

The IOC wants professional ball players and that's just not going to happen.

Yeah i guess its possible. For me I think it makes it more exciting. Like, I enjoy the hockey in the olympics 100% times better because of the people who are particiapting.

Aww, I'm getting the feeling that I'm the only one who wants this event.

Whatever the IOC decides, I just hope it still remains competitive. It seems like each country has a spo...event they're good at while sucking at other events that other countries excel at. That's the impression I got while watching the coverage on television. "Oh, swimming is next, let's focus all our energy at that while avoiding Table Tennis." - Not an exact quote, just what I heard in my head.

Poker?

While we are at it can we add in Surfing and Skateboarding too.

Yep, I'd like to see surfing in the Olympics.

When I think of Summer Olympics, I think of outdoor sports that you think of doing to take advantage of the summer, lol. Or something water related (swimming, surfing are summer sports for me). That separates it from the Winter Olympics.

A lot of the indoor games (trampoline, gymnastics, table tennis, fencing, weightlifting, etc.) that are currently included in the Summer Olympics doesn't give me much of a summer game feeling. Sure they're sports and the players are athletes but if the games have to be limited, I'd give more priority to sports like baseball, softball, golf, rugby, etc. to be part of the Summer Olympic games.

Vince is right. Tug of war used to be part of the Olympic disciplines. Although it's no longer being competed, it still remains in the list of official Olympic sports together with gofl, rugby, polo, even chess!

They need to add rugby, too. Even though I'm not a fan of it, I won't hate on a sport that I know deserves to be in the Olympics.

I've always wondered about Rugby too. From goggaloogling:

Quote:
Introduced by Baron Pierre de Coubertin (who refereed the first ever French championship final), rugby was on the Olympic program at Paris in 1900, at London in 1908, Antwerp in 1920, and Paris again in 1924. In 1928 the I.O.C. turned down the request to stage rugby at the Amsterdam games. Three factors were believed to be behind this: the IOC wanted more emphasis on individual sports; women's athletics had swollen the number of competitors; and the sport did not receive the backing that it should have from the British entries. Both the Soviet Union in 1980 and South Korea in 1988 made attempts to have rugby readmitted, and it should be pointed out that South Korea came desparately close to achieving their aim.
