A girl is dead because a convicted rapists was set free after raping as a teenager. Did the system fail her?

Yet another example where a sexual predator DID NOT stop after being rehabilitated and released into society. An innocent girl is now dead because people were more than likely worried about the well being of the rapist.

I'd say yes, the system failed her and badly.

Theres virtually no rehabilitation in prisons, because we don't wanna pay for it with our tax dollars, what do you expect? They are holding cells more than anything else.

This just feeds my fiery opinion on this kind of person. I've always felt theres a certain line a Human crosses to commit this kind of atrocity. Once they've crossed it theres never any going back I dont care how much counseling and rehabilitation that person goes through. Those thoughts will always be in that dark twisted mind, even if they are dormant... they are still there.

Well that's kind of my point. People have argued in other threads that sex predators shouldn't get life in prison. Well this is one example where that OBVIOUSLY would have been the better option. So what if he committed his original rapes as a teenager? Did they honestly expect him to "grow out of the phase?" Apparently so, and now a girl is dead because of the terrible judgment used when this guy was released.

You have to realize Hybrix that people as a whole are different. Should we throw all drug users in jail for life because that some druggies never quit what they do? I agree that sexual predators need to be punished, but is rape really a life sentence? That means if two people get together when they are drunk, one of them could end up in prison for life.

I don't like the sound of that.

The systems been failing all sorts of people for years young and old. I don't see how it is going to improve when the people running this place let them all go free.

I do believe in rehabilitation programs and they should be available to those with life sentences but they aren't enough to make these predators fit for society.

I'd like to know on what grounds was he released, what did his psychiatrists say, what was his activity in prison. I'd just like to know what the parole board saw when they made their decisions.

Exactly my thoughts when I read the article.

I just dont feel that the line is that fine. It is a huge step to go from consensual sex to all out rape. I mean the way I see it, yeah there will be individuals who may try to milk a heavy system like that and those are the cases I feel may not be as important as this. But lets be serious; beaten, strangled, violently raped..... That doesnt sound like an average night out at the club to me. Its cut and dry, this guy needs to fry.

I actually agree with you we should look at the circumstances surrounding a case, the punishment should fit the crime.
