Construction actually started in 2006, and the estimated completion is 2013.

So I was way off on the time estimation.

I knew it started a while ago but 2006? I haven't really heard much or seen pictures of it for a while. They must not have much done yet.

I may end up weighing 500lbs but I'll still find a way to pull it off sexily at the nudist colony. ~ysabel

Thoe buildings look wonderful. I think it's a good thing that New York is slowly moving on from 9/11 and are replacing the builings.

I doubt the buildings will get attacked again either, but you never know.

The footings and foundations usually take forever and it's all underground, so it looks like no progress is being made. After all that's done it usually rises pretty quickly.

What if the Iraqis crash them again?
The Iraqis had nothing to do with it. That was an incredibly ignorant statement.

The only thing I wish for the main tower is that it is the largest building in the world.. but I don't think that will happen.

It actually going to be the second tallest building in the world and tallest in the US.

The Sears Tower is currently #1 in the US at 1,730 feet and this will beat that.

If the Freedom Tower were finished today it would be the tallest. There is another skyscraper being built in the United Arab Emirates that will be over 2,000 feet tall though.

Check this out. Keep in mind some of the structures on this list (2nd and 3rd) are radio towers and not actual buildings.

When the Chicago Spire is completed around 2012, it'll be the tallest building in the United States.

That tower looks like it'll blow over if the winds become strong enough. :o

I'm sure they have it all under control. Skyscrapers are actually built to sway several feet in the wind without risk of damage of any kind.
