Washington becomes seventh state to legalize gay marriage - The Washington Post

Yay! About time, I say. It's the seventh state to legalize gay marriage and I'm really hoping more will follow.

Which state do you think will be the next?

I'm so sick of Australia taking it's time on this. US already has 7 states and Australia still doesn't have one state where gay marriage is legal. The idiots who run this country at the moment have a lot to answer for. I'm happy about Washington, that's great news.

I just can't wait to be 70 and to look back on this and say, "Holy ****, did we really argue about this for decades? How many stupid people do we have in this country?"

I mean, it's just such a stupid and pointless thing to argue about when we have so much more to worry about. I hope other states get with the times soon.

I've always had the same feeling about the LGBT community getting equal rights (such as marriage). I think we're going to look back it at someday and wonder why it didn't happen sooner.

I'm happy about Washington, and almost surprised that they weren't among the States doing this already.

Who do I think will be next...to be honest, I really don't know. I could see it eventually happening in Illinois but it's tough with a midwest State like that. It's much easier to name States (such as Missouri, my State) that won't be doing this anytime soon....sad that people do the opposite and vote to ban Gay Marriage in their states (such as Missouri, my State lol) and then turn around and talk about government interference in their lives.

Slow but sure that more and more states will do this. The same bunch of you come up every time there is a gay topic. Clearly you're passionate about it. Maybe you should go into politics and continue to make this a government issue.

I'm passionate because I want to be able to marry the woman I love one day... I also want any same sex couples that are in love to be able to do the same. Any relatives of mine, friends, or even strangers. It's absolutely bonkers that it is an issue.

I know a man/man couple that has been together for 40 years, and they are happy, and aren't going bonkers about it. I'm sure there are many more like them.

..and I know a man/man couple that have been together for over 40 years, they are happy and will be even more happy when they can walk into a church and legally get married.

Of course, just like there are straight couples that are the same way. But that doesn't mean there aren't many more same sex couples anxious to be wed.

Ironically there are so many people that think marriage is bogus yet fight and fight that all people have access to such a stupid thing. Not to mention that marriage is along the lines of being traditional and usually the mentality is that traditional is distasteful. It's become a battle for all the wrong reasons.
