This is exactly what I was going to say, but he beat me to it.

Yes, I agree, but just because it's a duty doesn't mean people will do it right, or at all. They shouldn't have the right to slack on such a duty.

I've said it before and I've said it again:

No one truly has the rights to take charge over the responsibility of other people's children, that's just a rule created by our society. Once the child can fend for itself, then the child can leave. Of course, there are a lot of bad parents out there.

I'm glad that rule exists.
Without it you'd have loads more messed up people. With this rule you are protecting the abused child.
Wouldn't you want protecting if you were a 6 year old being abused verbally/mentally/physically by your parents?

Bored out of my mind.

Not to start a fight on here..

But coming from a father that never should have been one.. Having a child should be a right, but because so many people abuse it, is a privilege. Your kids aren't something to use and throw away when you don't want them anymore. If your going to emotionally or physically destroy someone, you should do it to yourself, not your children. Years of therapy and someone to trust May heal it.. but it's going to take a lifetime to relearn everything that you were held to at childhood. I wouldn't want any child in the situation I'm in. If your a parent thats going to beat, belt or whip your child, you shouldn't be allowed to continue doing so.
