I've always had cats. I love that they don't "need" you the same way a dog does.

My wife wanted a kitten for her B-day last year. I had planned on getting one, but when I saw one on the side of the road eating trash under a car, I couldn't help but stop. Cats get hit all the time along that road. He came right up to me, I brought him home. The next day we took him to the vet and got his ear mites and fleas taken care of. We have another cat, but he is purely an outdoor cat.

Now our indoor cat is a year old and he is an absolute joy to be around. He loves to snuggle and play all the time. He is a great cat.

Here is a old joke. Q: What the deference between a Cat and a dog when you call them? A: A Dog will come to you when called. A cat will take a message and get back to you later.

I love cats, though it's heartbreaking when they get sick. Both my wife and I like purebreds (persians, etc) with susceptibility to various diseases, so our experience with them has been been wonderful and horrible at the same time. I'd take 'em anyday over a dog, though, although I've never REALLY had a pet dog

Always had cats growing up. My one cat I have had since I was six years old. Shes old and I worry about her everyday but I love her to death. Another one of my cats is the son of her so I love him as well. The other two are my sisters cats. I think cats bring a different kinda joy to a house hold then dogs do. I lie that they are way more independent and choose whether or not to like you.

We just added another Black cat to our mini zoo, so now we have 4 cats. Two of our cats earn their keep every summer and the other two just sit and look pretty.
