Nearly all pets are bred, if people did not breed pets then there would be no pets in existence!

Obviously..... but in my opinion.. I do not buy a dog for the use of breeding, I buy it for a pet, for a companion, not a money maker.

I know a lot of people do. I just think when there are so many dogs in shelters there is no need in breeding more just to make some money..

Nah. It's more cruel to have more animals then necessary. Sometimes it can help with behavior, too.

Kiss my shiny metal ass!

Its cruel not to, unless you are breeding. Female cats come into call and will call relentlessly every 2 weeks unless mated. To let them call and call causes distress and in both cats and dogs keeping a female whole and not breeding can cause a life threatening condition called pyometria. Indiscriminate mating puts females at risk of picking up disease from males that may have bred with many females.

Males that are left un neutered in both cats and dogs can stray and mate indiscriminately causing litters of unwanted kittens and puppies which eventually find themselves ending up in rescue centres or worse. Tom cats that are not doctored will fight with other un neutered males passing on untreatable conditions like FIV or Felv. They also spray their territory causing a terrible smell.
So to me, the answer is if someone relly cares about their animals welfare there is no question. To neuter is the only way.

I think it's more cruel to let them live with raging hormones that they cannot do anything about I'm thinking of all the guys who count the days since they've last had any and how they cannot wait to have some... imagine the poor pet who never gets any?

Spaying and Neutering helps so many things. It helps the pet not be as uncomfortable, it helps prevent unplanned births, pseudo pregnancies, cancer, bad behaviour, etc etc.

I do not see a reason not to do it.

I wish it was law everywhere that all animals couldn't be sold or given away without being desexed first, and that they must be micro-chipped Entire/breeding animals need to be registered as such and kept track of. I think you would then find the amount of dumped animals would decrease dramatically!

Actually, I'd like it if they stopped selling cats and dogs in petshops. A lot of these on going but preventable issues would be reduced.
