I think it's dispiccable!!!
As has already been said, there is plenty of rescues out there so there is absolutely no excuse.
I hope they go straight to jail and DO NOT PASS GO!!!

I have to say though, I happened upon a post in which you said something along the lines of ''I let them go in a field, I'm not sure they survived the night, ha ha''.
Was that not you Hybrix, talking about mice which you yourself had bred???

If so, I find this a VERY odd, if not hypocritical, choice of thread for you personally to have started.

I didn't want to bring it up when I found that particular post as we seem to have ended up getting on okay, I guess I'm just curious as to where you draw the line?

I would love to take all the so called pet owners who ditch their pets and throw them out in the rain and cold and see how they like it, and that is just for starters.

Almost all of our pets have been ditched or abused by their owners and we rescued them and took them in and got them healthy and happy, and in some cases a new home with good and loving owners.

So far the count of rescued and abandoned animals is 6 Dogs, 14 Cats, 4 ferrets, 3 snakes, 2 sugar gliders, 1 Domesticated Skunk, 2 birds, even fish get abandoned so them too.

Pets are like children, you are in it for the long haul otherwise don't even bother to get one.

Me and my wife rescue all kinds of animals and nurse them back to health and find them good homes unless we want to keep them. That's why we have so many pets. We just added a kitten to the mix. (was abandoned at the Dirt Mall) cute little thing. I think we are going to keep her atleast that's what my wife told me. If she wants to keep the kitten who am I to argue with her.

As of today we have found homes for over 30 animals and have taken in 2 of the dogs, 4 of the cats, the snake and the fish, all the others went to very good homes.

I guess you could call me a bit hypocritical but that would have been when I was 16 or so. It was also a bad situation for me because basically my parents made me get rid of them due to the smell. The pet stores where we lived wouldn't take mice from people (They only took gerbils and hamsters). The only people I found who wanted them had planned to feed them to their snakes. I figured they had a better chance of just surviving in the wild than going that route. The animal shelter actually told us just to let them go if we couldn't find somebody that wanted them and that they didn't take small animals in besides ferrets, rabbits, and guinea pigs (i.e. the bigger "cuter" rodent pets). I could have just let them go anywhere but I actually drove about 30 minutes to the best spot I could think of, which was a corn field out in the middle of nowhere. I didn't want them sneaking into somebodies house and being trapped and I figured there were plenty of places for them to hide out in the cornfield. There were also several trees in a somewhat wooded area nearby as well.

I do not condone it but then again I did try to keep them as long as I could. In my defense I don't even like trapping mice. I always try to catch them live so I can let them go. Most people here would kill a mouse before having one as a pet.

I may end up weighing 500lbs but I'll still find a way to pull it off sexily at the nudist colony. ~ysabel

Fair enough.
At least you do things right now and didn't let them get used for food.

That is exactly what happened to my old dog chi-chi.. I found her running on the highway and I picked her up so she wouldn't get hit. I walked around the closest neighborhood for days and finally found who owned her. So I went to their house and no one was home.. They were out of town. So I walked around to their back yard and they had no shelter, food, or water for her.

Finally when they got back in town. I took her over there and they said.. well we let her out and I had to leave and she wouldn't come back so I just left her out there and we don't want her. I went off about them not leaving her shelter or water and essentially walked off with their dog. 2 days later they came knocking on my door with a cop and took the dog back.. then not even a week later the owner called me and said they didn't want her and that I needed to come get her or they were just going to put her back outside...

So I went and got her. I didn't need another dog, but I would be her 4th owner and I didn't want her to keep getting jumped around so I kept here and well she lived to be 22 years old.

So essentially people are horrible. There are so many shelters people can take these dogs to. the sad part is that they will probably get another dog and do the same thing.

The thing that really makes me mad is people who get a puppy because and don't know anything about the breed and they take them to the shelter because they got too big.

i think it's cruel and heartless, i never leave my birds :( i love them to much.
People who leave their pets must have not heart, animals have feelings too, it's not that hard to leave at a shelter.

It's disgusting. There are so many sick minded people in the world and I wish so many people didn't get away with doing this. Animals are living creatures and I think people forget that when they're throwing them out into the street. If you don't want your pet for whatever reason then give it away to a loving home. Why on earth do people continue to treat poor defenceless creatures like ****?

To answer your question Hybrix - I don't think people should be fined, I think they should be arrested for this kind of behaviour.

Mom told me never to talk to strangers, and you're pretty strange.

It's f'in disgusting. If you welcome a pet into your home, it becomes family. And in this case, if you had removed the photograph and not told us it was a pet dog, the b@stard might as well have been talking about his own child. *edit* Just realized I forgot to answer the question. Yes, I think they should be fined, and if the pet is found hurt or heaven forbid dead, then the owner should face penalties other than just fines.*

If you can't love and take care of your family, you shouldn't have one. Full stop.

Reminds me. It's been a year or two. I should probably go meet my parents at the nursing home.

Almost everyone of the dogs my parents had when i was a child were from shelters, there is no reason to just dump any animal,it makes me sick.
The thing that bugs me the most is that in the future these so called people could get another animal that they will eventually get bored with and throw outside again!.

I think it is extremely sad and cruel and selfish that people abandon their animals and the people responsible for it if caught should be banned from ever keeping animals again. I know that sometimes people's circumstances change and they can no longer keep their animals, say if they were moving or their financial situation changes and they can no longer afford to keep them, then they have to give their animals up and kind responsible people find good, loving homes their pets that is fine and I respect them for going about it the right way. These people who just abandon their animals are despicable people and obviously have no care for the animals welfare, I ask myself if they are the type of people that would do this why did they ever get an animal in the first place?

I rescued my Dalmatian Pongo from a Dalmatian rescue centre, he is now in his 3rd home and he is only 4. He will be with me for life and he is very much loved. He was beaten in one of his other homes and I look at his little face and I wonder to myself how on earth anyone could ever harm him, is the the most loving, loyal, sweet dog ever, I am sad that he had to go through that but also happy at the same time that he is with me now and is loved. Look at his picture, you have got to agree that Pongo and Bella are so beautiful!

She do anything necessary for him and he do anything necessary for her so don't let the necessary occur
