I've never had any pet that needed to be caged, I just don't think I'd enjoy them enough to take on the responsibility.

I hate having pets that need to stay in a cage. I love having a dog or cat, an animal that can go places with you once properly trained.

Wouldn't the rodent's cage stink up the house?

I had a guinea pig named Morph and a hamster named Flash. They were both awesome pets and had a lot of character.

I have had a few rodents as pets n the past.
My favorite one was my pet bat..He was so cool..And my rats didn't have a cage they lived under my night stand in a den I made them..
They even used the litter box that I put in the corner of the room. Rats make good pets and so do bats.
Some people don't like them but to each their own.
If my wife would let me, I would get myself another pet bat.

I've never seen a rabbit be affectionate.

Your house would have been my worst nightmare when you had all of those.

Bats are pretty similar to rodents but just different enough that I'm not sure if I'd like one as a pet. First off how in the world did you get a pet bat? Last I checked (anywhere) bats are not sold as pets.
Yet if it behaved similarly to it's rodent cousins then I don't see how it wouldn't work out as a pet.
Do you have any pics from when you had it?
