Actually, most species of Theraphosidae are actually extremely low maintenance as well as species of scolopendramorpha. For my adult Grammastola rosea, I simply feed it two large crickets and fill the water bowl. That's it. Its enclosure is a simple rubber maid container with a hiding spot and some substrate.

I've seen someone keep an emperor scorpion as a pet before and then pick it up.

Oh yes! I have had Imperators before. Some of the best scorpions ever! I use to handle mine all the time :D

Actually, all my centipedes will grow to 6-10 inches long. If I can buy a gigantea, it will be over a foot long :D
