Does anybody read poker books/online guides?
Do you guys try to improve your game by actually watching DVDs, reading books, or reading strategies on the web? I try to, but poker is a personal activity and everyone works a different way. Some people have the math skills, some have the stare, some have the ability to read others.
How about you? Do you "study" poker?

I watch the pros on TV and try to pick up on some good strategies, but I end up forgetting it all in the end. I get too caught up in listening to the commentators and the players' conversations.

I've learned a lot from watching it on TV. I've never read any poker books or looked for tips online or anything.

I read Poker Nation, which wasn't so much hard math and such as a career poker player talking about the culture and the mentality that has separated good and bad players.
I think it helped somewhat in my play, besides watching TV and of course playing a lot in person and online.

I watch a lot of the TV too and I got this random set of DVDs by Howard Ledderer or however you pronounce his name along with a poker chip set.
He's got this whole formula so I decided not to watch.

I used to watch alot of late night poker on Tele, I've never bothered to read books or watch any DVD's as it might negatively effect my game.

The first time I tried to play poker here I was pretty bad, in fact Echoes actually got mad at me.
I found a few instructional websites the next day and read up on the game. Now I'm not so bad.

Yeah, all you really need is experience playing the game. You'll develop your own ideas and strategies sure enough, even if it takes you years.
