Since there are national elections in Germany in three weeks, September 27th, there is now an online quiz by the office for public political education:
You have to answer to 38 questions, and in the end, the correlation of your answers is compared to the major parties in Germany.
They even have an English version of this quiz online:
2009 Bundestag election Wahl-O-Mat
I'm curious to see where you fall on the German political spectrum!
The 5 major political parties in Germany are (their result in 2005 in brackets):
Christian Democrats (CDU/CSU): conservative (35.2%)
Social Democrats (SPD): center-left (34.2%)
Free Democrats (FDP): libertarian (9.8%)
Left Party (Linke): socialist (8.7%)
Green Party (B'90/Grüne): environmentalist center-left (8.1%)
There are smaller parties too, not represented in the parliament, because they are below the 5% margin, as for example:
National Democrats (NPD): neo-Nazis
Pirate Party (Piraten): against copyright laws and for internet freedom
BüSo: German offspring of Lyndon LaRouche's weird political sect
My result:
1. Pirate Party (Pirates): 77 out of 102 points
2. Green Party (environmentalist center-left)): 74 out of 102
3. Free Democrats (libertarians): 72 out of 102
4. Social Democrats (center-left): 66 out of 102
5. Left Party (socialists): 66 out of 102
6. Christian Democrats (conservative): 48 out of 102
7. BüSo (LaRouche): 46 out of 102
8. National Democrats (neo-Nazis): 43 out of 102
Since the Pirate Party has no realistic chance of reaching more than 5% of the votes and my vote would be lost if I voted for them, I'll most likely go for the Green Party on September 27th.
What's your result? Whom would you vote for if living in Germany? :)

BP is a small regional Bavarian party IIRC, DVU is a far-right party, "Tierschutzpartei" translates as "party for the protection of animals".

My ranking amongst these parties, in order: Green, Left, FDP, SPD, CDU. If we include the other parties, I was closer to the Pirate Party and PSG, than the Greens, but I highly disagree with the PSG on the issue of planned economies, so I consider that a fluke.

Among these 38 questions, there are only very few which ask for your opinion towards the representative democratic system. The only question that comes to mind is question #38, which asks whether democracy is the best possible form of government. So when you are in favor of, say, animal protection, you already get a certain correlation with anti-system parties, when they are incidentally in favor of animal protection too -- even if you strongly disagree with them on the system question.
At any rate, your result is interesting. It seems you are left-leaning, also for German standards.

In seriousness, I'm glad you enjoyed the quiz. It's interesting you have most in common with the socialist Left Party, which is clearly left to anything that exists in America.
I wonder where the more right-leaning American posters here would fall on the German spectrum. Too bad there are no questions about a legalization of private gun ownership, a ban on abortion or whether you think Merkel has the German citizenship, or even is a communist sleeper, because she used to live in communist East Germany!
