Belief In The Bible

Does anyone here on GF believe in the entire bible?

I am an atheist, but I can understand people believing some of the bible, if they believe in God.

But the book of Genesis? Come on.

That we haven't come from Adam and Eve is scientifically proven.

- Show me the proof. If part of the Bible is not reliable, then none of it is, because God's Word would be nothing but Truth.

So, yes, I believe the entire Bible is true, because it is God's Word.

The Bible is a historical document, much like the Magna Carta or the Analects by Confucius.

I believe none of it without backing up of archeology or other contemporary sources.

I still believe the bible is a fairytale of sorts, written to scare people into behaving and acting a certain way. By default parts of it would be true on accident. I am an atheist as well, and I personally find it a bit far fetched, but as you said I can also see how if someone believes in god that they believe everything that is written.

- I suggest you read Josh McDowell's New Evidence That Demands A Verdict. It's 800 pages of evidence for the validity of the Christian faith. Amazon.com - $15. It's got the eyewitness accounts, the archeology, the whole nine yards. Josh McDowell actually started researching with the intention of disproving the Bible... he's a believer now.

btw... have you actually done any research at all, as McDowell did, to discover if there is any validity to the Bible?

i am seccular humanist i personally do not believe any word of the bible, but i can understand peoples faith in it and the morals it teaches many people who do put their faith in it.It's just not what i believe

- A quick search tells me he's the equivalent of the Biblical Noah in the Mesopotamian account of a worldwide flood. What's your point? This is just more evidence that there was, in fact, a worldwide flood.

How can you believe that a (roughly) a man and a woman were in a perfect garden, were convinced to eat a forbidden apple by a snake possessed by Satan, which made child birth painful?
