I'm sure that all of us had recess when we were younger I sure did.

What did you do during recess?

I had recess up until 6th grade then after that we had classes. For me recess was awesome all the time, I'd play soccer sometimes, sometimes I'd be on the playground equipment climbing into places where the teachers got really mad and made you come down.

I remember when my school got new playground equipment it was so awesome, what i had until second grade was a stupid wooden playground then after that they got another playground that as much bigger and nicer and added it right next to the older one.

I remember the slider I had tons of fun with that thing, as well as the monkey bars and monkey cage.




What did you do when you had recess?

We had a big blacktop, and we had a playground. Most of the time I just played Kick Ball with my friends, and that was always fun. There was Four Square too, I never really liked that too much though. Eventually they said no more Kick Ball and started making us go to the playground. :( But then for some reason we just started like, racing around the playground for the whole recess. Either running or jumping off the swings. Oh and one time someone fell off the Merry Go Round and we weren't allowed on it anymore. :(

In Germany we had this one game that I don't even know what it was called. Some huge pole with a ball tethered to it and we'd smack it around. Then there were the usual monkey bars and swings, etc. Recess only lasted through 5th grade.

Never just one thing; sometimes I would play on the jungle jim, the swing, tether ball, soccer, basketball and sometimes I just sat on the bench because school wore me out. I can't really pinpoint one thing I did during recess.

I had recess from kindergarten through 5th grade. Played a lot of kickball and tag. Jumped from swings. Jumped from high ledges on the playground. In 5th grade we played football everyday.

I had recess from Pre-K on through 5th grade and I usually enjoyed every single minute of it, especially in 5th grade because we'd only get the last 20 minutes of the day to ourselves.

I went to 4 different elementary schools, 3 of which were private schools. I can only remember my last school and that one was the best, we had a blacktop court and 2 playgrounds next to it, one was the big kids playground and the other was the little kids one. Both playgrounds were built in sand so falling was less of a problem here. The bigger one was all gray and metal but had 2 sets of monkey bars, balance beams and this chain-web climbing bar that was like ten feet off the ground and everyone would try to climb over it to see who could actually do it. I almost never went on the blacktop court because I sucked at playing basketball.

Nowadays the blacktop is still there but both playgrounds have been replaced with newer equipment that's painted. It looks cooler and better but it's sadly not what I grew up with.

man you're lucky, my school got way too precautionary, if you jumped off a swing at my school you had to stand by the fence for the remainder of recess, if you jumped off of something high, you were by the fence, and of course no going up the slide (even though it's more fun).

Tackling was not allowed at my school, we'd have blacktop only recess sometimes, it was horrible, I couldn't stand it.

Recess was always amazing for me. Wither I was out playing in the dirt or snow, playing basketball or football with friends it was like heaven after sitting in a god forsaken class room for three hours.

I used to just hang around and talk to mates, and kick a footy sometimes. Most of the time it was still boring lol

Play-time/'recess' was pretty fun.. We had a big field that all the older girls used to hold handstands and cartwheel competitions on... and we had a great climbing frame/obsticle course thing.... there were games marked on the ground like hopscotch and some huge circle thing which nobody knew what it was so we used it to keep prisoners in when playing cops & robbers. And there was a short brick wall thing that we would stand on and pretend to be popstars. I hated singing though so sometimes I ducked out and did the role of 'manager' of the band.
